B. Clarification:

1) Question: Refer to Sheet A35 – Window covering specification #3 and #5, is blackout fabric or the color black fabric to be used?

Response: Window type 1RR, 1QQ and 1PP shall be blackout fabric; this should address all fabric size issues.

2) Question: Sheet A35 – Window schedule 2A, 2B & 2C: Window width exceeds maximum fabric width. Possible solution would be to install two blinds on one motorized headrail. Also arch is above maximum on width and below minimum on height per Graber specs. How should we bid these windows?

Response: Install flat blind above window with a Graber Regal style painted valence or equal for windows 2A, 2B, and 2C.

3) Question: Sheet A35 – Refer to first and second floor window schedule. All windows marked elevation “E” and all windows marked elevation “H” – Window overall heights exceed fabric height. Possible solution would be to stack multiple shades per opening. However, this will create a cord nightmare. How should we bid these windows?

4) Question: They left out outlet symbols, which I can handle, but are the phone outlets there?

Response: The phone / data outlets are shown. Provide quad outlets at each circuit designated in rooms 146 & 150.

5) Question: Where is the phone board to be located? Note 2 on E4 I think is from 147 which is labeled computers. Is that the phone equipment room? Response: In room 147, this was covered in Addendum #1.

6) Question: Does there need to be dedicated circuits for it?

Response: The outlets are dedicated in room 147.

7) Question: The missing outlets symbols in rooms 146 & 150, are they duplex or double duplex?

Response: They should be double duplex at each circuit in 146 and 150.

8) Question: Pages A7 / A8 specifies a tile under floor finish note #4 but does not specify a size.

Please clarify. Response: 18” x 18” nominal.

9) Question: 09300 tile specs section 2.2 and 3.4 calls for an epoxy grout to be used at tile locations,

but note #5 under ceramic tile wainscot on pate A36 calls out for grout to be sealed. Please specify what type of grout we are to use in what areas, and if any of it is to be sealed. Response: Eliminate sealer.

10) Question: Regarding alternate #6, pages A7 & A8 show the tile changing direction when the walls

change direction in certain areas. Are we to follow this pattern for the alternate carpet in this area as well, and turn it accordingly? Response: The hatch patters on the drawing are no to be used as installation patters. Changes in direction and patter of tile will be field discussed and decided.

11) Question: The beam schedule indicated a TB20 with a TOB elevation of 17’-8” for the upper level

tie beam coming across most of the perimeter of the 2nd

floor, in particular over the curtain wall framing at roof level which is shown at 27’-8”. What upper level beams around the perimeter of the building should be at 27’-8”? Should all of them be the CB20? Please clarify the beams to be located at the high roof levels Response: TB20 shall be a bearing TOB of 27’8”. CB20 shall be a bearing TOB of 27’-8”. (See Attached Revised Drawings) The curved beam noted as TB20 on south side (entry side) shall be a TB21 with same steel as TB20 and an elevation to TOB of 25’- 0”. The curved TB20 on the north side remains a TB20 with 27’8” TOB.

There is an additional beam above the radius TB21, to be designated TB22, same steel as TB20 and an elevation to TOB of 31’6”. The time beams noted as TB 21 shall be TB20 with TOB elevation at 27’8”. Above the radius TB20 on the north side an additional TB is required on the top of the parapet. The designation shall be TB23, same steel as TB20 with a TOB elevation of 33’-8 “.

12) Question: Section 08410 paragraph 1.2-B7 indicates that the muntins will be “in between glass

panels”, meaning that the glass will be insulating. Paragraph 1.3-D.3 discusses thermal break construction, which would imply the requirement for insulating glass. However, section 08800 paragraph 2.5 calls for laminated glass (non-insulating), and paragraph 2.5B says that the muntins “must be surface applied”. Please clarity whether this project requires insulating glass with internal muntins or monolithic laminated glass with surface applied muntins. Response: The glazing shall be as specified on the drawings as impact glazing with muntins surface applied on the interior and exterior. (See Attached Revised Drawings)

13) Question: On page 16721-2 1.9B, Duct Detectors are required in all supply and return air ducts of HVAC systems having 2000 cfm’s and greater capacity. Floor plans and riser are only showing one per unit. Which is correct? Response: The Duct Detectors are only required where shown on the drawings, supply side.

14) Question: Can we use MC Cable for branch wiring? Spec section 16110-2, line G and drawing E1

under general notes contradict each other. Response: MC Cable can only be used for whips from J-box to fixture or outlet. System is not to be run to MC Cable.

15) Question: Sheet E4 seems to be missing some symbols i.e. room 146 and 150. Are these receptacles not wanted or just not shown on plan. Response: The receptacles are quad outlets at each circuit location noted.

16) Question: Number of lockers not clear sheet A17. Response: Sheet A19 Locker Elevation quantity = 18.

17) Question: Cove light shown on A9 and shown as dashed line on E6 not called out of scheduled. Response: Cove light fixture is “U”.

18) Question: Window glazing pressures shown an A35 don’t match component and cladding

pressures chart on S-100. Response: Use pressures for window as shown on schedule.

19) Question: On sheet A9 and A10 reflected ceiling plan, is the dark line showing where crown molding goes? What is the profile?

Response: Yes, see detail 2/A9.

20) Question: Architectural dumpster, A39 doesn’t match civil dumpster drawings SD-4, which applies?

Response: Follow details A39.

21) Question: M1 sheet general note 29 seems to contradict remarks note 11 for fresh air control. Response: There is no contradiction; damper allows 25% outside air while building is occupied.

Response: Contractor to bid construction time.

27) Question: What is the amount of liquidated damages? Response: None.

28) Question: Alt #8 calls out to delete gate control. However the electrical plans call for a gate control in future.

Response: The gate is to be part of base bid, including electric and circuits.

Response: Roof drains run underground to storm sewer, overflow drains are to have outlet trim.

42) Question: Insulation schedule calls out FI-Foil insulation on exterior walls. In between ¾” furring strips. FI-Foil requires face staple to the furring strips. Plan legend on A-1 calls out ¾” rigid insulation cut between furring strips. Please clarify which type of insulation is desired on the exterior block walls. Response: Equal to Dow 5/8” Super Tuff-R, R-50 secured directly to CMC with ¾” furring strips on top of insulation, no breaks in insulation.
