Duration (in semesters): Four Semesters Credits per semester: 5 Objectives: To provide students with training in veterinary medicine pathology, veterinary clinical microbiology and veterinary parasitology. Structure:
The course shall consist of a 2-year full time study by coursework, examination and thesis. The first year of study shall be devoted to the coursework while the second year shall be devoted to
research work and thesis writing.
In the first year of study, candidates shall be required to take eight (8) compulsory courses and one (1) optional course.
In addition all registered students will be required to take course 513 which shall be examined at departmental level by continuous assessment only.

Learning outcomes: Acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitude to enable one to competently work in operational, research and academic settings. Graduates will be able to carry out problem-oriented research, which is geared towards improving animal health and production, human health and poverty alleviation and disseminate this to the general public via publications, workshops, seminars, conferences, farm visits and field days. Students learn to offer comprehensive diagnostic service is including postmortem examination to establish cause of death of all animals; and a range of laboratory diagnostics to support the livestock industry such as diagnostic pathology, diagnostic microbiology, diagnostic parasitology, poultry clinic, and mycotoxin analysis.
