Kids Corner

The Feast of the Epiphany

Thank you for your Christmas Generosity — Fr. Chris thanks everyone who contributed to the Giving Tree and to the church for the important Christmas collection. Your generosity is a testament to our “Little Church with the Big Heart.” May God Bless you for your kindness. Christmas Envelopes — It’s not too late to make a Christmas Offertory. Please use your envelopes but if you don’t receive them you can use the Christmas Envelopes on the window sill for your generous donation. RCIA and CCD Classes Resume — Classes for CCD and RCIA resume on Sunday, Jan. 5 following the 9:30 Mass for CCD and the 12:15 Mass for RCIA. It’s the Year of the Census — 2020 marks the year of the U.S. Census and we’d like to update our records too for the parish. If you attend church, it’s important that you register as a parishioner. We have forms available in the office and on the back tables in church. Please complete them and return them to the office by Jan. 31 so we can more accurately measure the strength of our parish. Bring a Friend to Church — One of the greatest gifts a person can receive is the gift of faith. The start of the New Year is a perfect time to share your faith and our Little Parish so please bring a friend to church this month. All are welcome. Parking Lots — By Hoboken standards we are blessed to have two parking lots. Rather than block in your fellow parishioner please use the second lot on Madison between 3rd and 4th Streets. Memorials & Intentions — We have Masses and Memorials available for 2020. You can also support deceased members of the parish and your loved ones by buying a mass card for the Memorial Fund. Those enrolled in the Memorial Fund are remembered at our Vigil Mass on Saturdays. Parish Council Meeting — The meeting for Wed., Jan. 8 is cancelled.

CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS Volunteer at St. Francis — Make a New Year’s resolution to get more involved with our parish. Our goal this year is to have greater representation and participation by many families. St. Francis is home to five ministries: Life Ministry, Worship & Word, Community Ministry, Temporalities and Stewardship. Getting involved doesn’t require more than a few hours a month. Learn more about the Worship & Word Ministry below. The Fr. Michael Scholarship Fund — Thank you for the response to requests for joining the Board of Trustees. We have received numerous requests and will announce the Board of Trustees in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you would like to support the Scholarship Fund donations are welcome. Please make checks payable to the Fr. Michael Guglielmelli Scholarship Fund. Follow us on Social Media — Please follow st.francishoboken on Instagram and St.FrancisHoboken on Facebook to stay informed and connected to the church.

The Feast of The Epiphany

The word “epiphany” comes from the Greek word, epiphainen, a verb that means “to shine upon,” “to manifest,” or “to make known.” Thus, the feast of the Epiphany celebrates the many ways that Christ has made Himself known to the world, mainly the three events that manifested the mission and divinity of Christ: the visit of the Magi (Matthew 2:1-12), the baptism of Jesus (Mark 1:9-11), and the miracle at
