A digital computer operates directly on decimal digits that represent either discrete data or symbols. It takes inputs

and gives output in the form of alphanumeric letters and special characters represented by holes in the punched cards,

magnetized areas on tapes, printing on paper, etc. digital computers are generally used for business and scientific data

processing and it has the unique ability to store large data. These are the most widely used type of computers in modern

business.

In contrast to the above, analog computers are those devices that processes and controls by reacting in a pre-defined way to

changes and specified quantities like measuring the electrical or physical magnitude like voltage, pressure, rotation, water

flow, etc.

An analog computer has the ability to accept inputs that vary with the time and intensity and apply them to various devices

with in a computer which performs the computing operations. The output from the system may be in the form of a graph

produced by a plotting pen, etc. the output can be used directly to control the operation of some other machine or process.

The software or program ready to use for the particular task is called package. For every job there is corresponding

package. Presently there are a number of general packages available to complete the corresponding task. To enter the text,

text editor software is used. WordStar, WordPad, MS.Word, lotus word are some of the text editor software. Lotus123,

Ms.Excel are called as spread sheet software. Tally, account, flash and total are accounting software. Apart from these many

other software is available.
