Welcome!

Our school year has started very well with both staff and students settling in quickly to the routines of school life. I would like to extend a warm welcome to new students and families to our school community.

Staff returned on Monday 29th January, 2018. We held a busy day of staff professional development, including revising the Code of Conduct Policy. This code applies to all employees in the NSW Department of Education and draws on the Department of Education's Statement of Ethics and the values that underpin our work: fairness, respect, integrity and responsibility. We also covered school induction systems and ‘fine tuning’ our educational programs and initiates for a wonderful 2018! Students from Years 1 to Year 6 returned yesterday and Kindergarten students will begin on Thursday 1st February, 2018. On Thursday we will form our three 2018 classes, when we have a clear understanding of confirmed enrolments. We can confirm that Mrs Harris will be teaching the Junior Class, Mrs Linsley the Intermediate Class and Mrs Black the Senior Class. We farewelled Mrs Doust last year, and happily her family welcomed a baby boy, Noah, born on 21st December 2017. Mrs Smith will be working at our school each Tuesday and Wednesday, as the School’s Learning and Support Teacher. Each Thursday and Friday Mrs Gray will be providing release from face to face teaching. Mrs Newton will provide library lessons and release from face to face teaching as well. Mrs Anderson and Mrs Holz, our School Learning Support Officers, will work at various times during the week. Mr Marshall is the school’s General Assistant and works on Fridays.

Mrs Turner remains our brilliant school cleaner. Mrs Bower is the School’s Office Manager, Mrs Griffiths works on a Wednesday as a School Administrative Officer and Mrs Faustini works on Thursdays as a School Administrative Officer. Wow, how exciting to welcome everyone, including the new faces to our school. They come to us as very experienced staff who have highly regarded professional skills. Voluntary Contributions A Voluntary Contribution of $35 per child, then $20 for each additional child from the same family, is due and payable at the office or on line, through POP. This money assists in providing resources for the children.

Student Information Sheet Coming home with your child/children today is/are student information forms. These forms need to be updated regularly to ensure all information is current and correct. Please complete the form/s and return to the school as soon as possible. If you have any questions regarding the forms, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Parent Teacher Information Session

All parents are invited to attend a Parent Information Session in the school library on Tuesday 13th February 2018, between 3:30pm and 4pm. Children are welcome to accompany their parents/carers, and a teacher will be on playground duty for the time of the session. Afternoon tea will be provided.

Swimming Carnival The Small Schools Swimming Carnival is on Friday 9th February. The carnival is for good swimmers in Year 6 - Year 3, and 8 years olds in Year 2 who are confident swimmers. A detailed note went home yesterday. Please return this permission note by Friday 2nd February at the latest!

On Friday 9th February, teachers will be at school as normal for those who do not attend in the carnival. Transport to and from the carnival is to be arranged by each child’s parents. Children need to be at the pool at 8.45am as the carnival begins at 9.00am sharp and will conclude by 2.30pm. Remember the money ($3.30 per student) is to be paid on the day of the carnival, as you enter the Singleton Swim and Gym Centre. The children will be given the opportunity to use the canteen at certain times during the day. Parents wishing to attend the carnival are expected to pay a spectators fee of $2.20. Mrs Harris will be at the pool gates to meet the children.

After School Pick Up Many parents pick their children up from school at 3.00pm each day. As this is the beginning of the year, and it is an exciting and busy time, please be mindful of cars reversing and the busy traffic conditions. There are a lot of children around stationary and moving cars. Students in Kindergaten and Year 1 will remain at the flag pole with Mrs Harris until parents/care givers come and collect them. Many thanks for your support to keep our children safe.
