With so many familiar faces the children have quickly settled back into the Prescho

ol routine. It

urces that we

developing our partnership

has been lovely watching the new children being “shown the ropes” by our “big kids”.

We have been busy reconnecting with our friends & exploring some of the new resohave. As a result of our fundraising efforts last year we will soon be watching the children ride new scooters & bikes around the tennis court!

An important topic of discussion has been Sun Safety and what we should be doing to protourselves in the sun and the recent heat. The children are taking the responsibility of putting on sunscreen, wearing a hat and drinking plenty of water very seriously.

We are looking forward to another year of Preschool and furtherwith the school.

Hello from Kal ....

To all my friends at Mullion Creek public school,

I just thought I would write and say hello for 2011. I hope you are all are enjoying being back at school and are having a great year so far. I have been really flat out so far this year. I have just finished my collection of portraits for the National Gallery in Canberra competition. It's 11 portraits in total and the collection is titled, "Through the eye's of a child". It looks at different aspects of a child's life and it's also painted from my perspective, so the title of the collection holds a double meaning. Along with the portraits, I write a poem to go with each one, about the relationship I share with that child. It was a lot of work but I am very proud of it. I will send you some photos of my collection soon, if you'd like to see it.

As well as that I am busy with all my other subjects. I am doing trigonometry in Maths this term which is challenging but I am enjoying it. I am also studying Macbeth in English. We are half way through the play already and I am really enjoying it. My assignment for this week is to write and perform a Monologue about how Macbeth felt at the end of Scene 1 Act 7. I will send you down the video to look at on I am done. Hopefully it'll be good.

During the holidays my dad and I went to Melbourne. I won kid of the year again for my Science Squad and the prize was a 5 day trip to Melbourne. They sent us to Werribee Open range Zoo and we got to go on a Safari tour. We were in an open vehicle and the animals, (giraffes, Buffalos, zebras, hippos, etc) were all only a metre or two from the vehicle just roaming around. One giraffe put it's face right up near us. It was really cool. We also went to Melbourne Zoo, Melbourne Museum and a place called Science Works. It was a really fun trip. The last day we were there was the beginning of the Melbourne floods so we were happy to come home.

My Dad told me that you'd like me to write in the newsletter every month. I would really love to do that thanks for asking me. That really means a lot. He also said something about an art competition that I might be able to enter. I'd love to do that too and anything else I can be included in would be really great.

Anyway I hope you are all having fun at school and I am going to come and see you really really soon.

Have to run it's time for my English lesson,

From your friend,

Kal. (Maple)
