Innovation
Innovation is central to our training philosophy. From incorporating Multi-Crew
Co-operation and First Officer Fundamentals training into our programs, to
pioneering the new Multi-Crew Pilot Licence in Hong Kong, CAE Oxford Aviation
Academy embraces a culture of continuous innovation.
Corporate Relationships
The relationships that we build with our corporate partners are equally as important
as the emphasis we place upon delivering top quality, customer-focused pilot
training to our students.
CAE Oxford Aviation Academy Melbourne has an extensive history of training
pilots for Australian Universities, general aviation and major airline customers
from the Australian and Asia-Pacific region.
In 1998, the Melbourne academy partnered with Qantas to create the Qantas
Cadet Pilot Training Program – at the same time pioneering the Multi Crew
Co-operation (MCC) course in Australia. Then in 2009, CAE Oxford Aviation
Academy was awarded the contract to train airline pilots for Jetstar Australia
leading directly from ab initio training into employment as First Officers flying the
A320 aircraft. A similar cadet program for Singapore-based carrier, Jetstar Asia,
soon followed. More recently, 2011 saw the launch of the Melbourne academy’s
first MPL program with Hong Kong-based carrier Dragonair.
Significantly, over 5,000 graduates that trained in Melbourne are now employed
as flight crew with Australian and overseas airlines – some having trained either as
an airline cadet or as part of an Aviation Program with the Swinburne University
of Technology with whom the Melbourne academy has been in partnership since
1992.
Training Facilities
Our modern training facilities at Moorabbin Airport include ‘state of the art’
classrooms, a modern fleet of EFIS Cessna 172 single engine and Piper PA44
multi engine training aircraft and a fully equipped simulator training centre featuring
5 simulators including a CRJ200 GenJet simulator. Ample student accommodation
is available in close proximity to the airport all serviced by Academy transport
services.
Moorabbin Airport is also constructed with 2 sets of parallel runways, a control
tower, Class D airspace and published instrument approach procedures; making
it absolutely ideal for airline pilot training in all types of weather conditions.

Modular Training Pathway
The Modular Training Pathway is ideal for those that
wish to undertake pilot training as a self-funded
student on a more ‘part-time’ basis. The modular
pathway is a more flexible alternative to achieving
your aspirations to become a pilot.
The modular pathway consists of the following
programs that can be completed in sequence or
trainee pilots can enroll on a course at any level as
long as you meet the license pre-requisites:
• General Flying Progress Test
• Private Pilot License
• Commercial Pilot Licence
• Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating
• Flight Instructor Rating
• Combined MCC(Multi Crew Cooperation) and
JOC (Jet Orientation Course)

Multi Crew Cooperation
& Jet Orientation Course
As a pilot, with a Commercial Pilot Licence and
Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating, you
posses the privileges to command a Single Pilot
Aircraft and be paid for your work.
To fly as an airline crew member in Multi Pilot Aircraft
you must receive formal multi-crew skills training to
convert your Single Pilot Aircraft skills into Multi Pilot
Aircraft skills. This is best achieved in the controlled
environment of a sophisticated simulator which is
representative of an airline flight-deck, to ensure that
the training is as realistic and relevant as possible.
CAE Oxford Aviation Academy’s Multi Crew
Cooperation Course Fundamentals Programme
(MCC) gives the cadet a realistic training experience
in operating a multi-pilot, multi-engine airplane
under Instrument Flight Rating conditions. The
objectives of the course are optimum decision
making, communication, diversion of tasks and
use of checklists, mutual supervision, teamwork
and support, throughout all phases of flight under
normal, abnormal and emergency conditions.
The transition from flying slower single pilot aircraft
(SPA) to your first type rating in multi pilot aircraft
(MPA) at airliner jet speeds can be challenging,
especially when you are also learning airline
standard operating procedures (SOP’s). The training
emphasises the development of non-technical skills
applicable to working in a multi-crew environment.
Included within the Multi Crew Cooperation
Fundamentals Programme is CAE Oxford Aviation
Academy’s Jet Orientation Course (JOC) Course.
The JOC Course better prepares a pilot for airline
selection assessments as well as assisting a pilot
with their first jet type rating by learning jet handling
skills using simplified procedures in our CRJ
Simulator (FNPTII MCC).
MCC has long been recognized as a crucial training
element for airlines across the world. The Joint
Aviation Authorities adopted MCC as a mandatory
training requirement during the 1990’s and is highly
regarded by Australian Airlines resulting with CASA
adopting the concept in a recent review of pilot
training and regulations.
Undertaking a Multi Crew Cooperation Course and
Jet Orientation Course Conversion Programme will
provide you with the skills required by many airlines
around the world to fly in Multi Crew environments.
While not a formal requirement under current CASA
guidelines, undertaking an MCC & JOC course
is highly regarded and often incorporated in the
training of airline cadets.
Using expertly qualified Ground and Flight Instructors
at our Simulator Training Centre at Moorabbin
Airport, CAE/OAA’s Multi Crew Cooperation
Fundamentals Course will allow you to achieve your
goal of flying in a Multi Crew environment.
The Key Elements of MCC Fundamentals include:• Crew Resource Management Ground
