Nokia Siemens Networks EoT8 The EoT8 Channel Card has been designed specifically to seamlessly integrate into an existing Dynanet cartridge enabling Fast Ethernet services to be transported over multiple E1’s. The device also supports VLAN and layer 2 switching thereby enhancing the capability of Dynanet mechanics to aggregate Fast Ethernet over E1 lines. Enterprises are finding that their demand for Fast Ethernet Services is growing exponentially. They are therefore looking at methods to map these Ethernet services over existing un-utilized E1’s circuits available at the transport layer (higher order PDH, SDH). With the EoT8, this can be achieved without the costs associated with replacing existing hardware. The EoT8 is a Dynanet compatible card, aggregating 4x 10/100BaseT Fast Ethernet Interfaces over one to 4 E1 circuits. The EoT8 delivers high performance layer 2 Ethernet switching. Tag based VLANs (802.1q) are supported, allowing network segmentation without being restricted by physical connections. The EoT8 can be managed locally via the console port or remotely using Telnet, SNMP or a Web Browser. These management interfaces can be supported over a separate VLAN thus offering a greater level of security for management traffic. The EoT8 is capable of bonding up to 4 E1 interfaces to provide higher bandwidth connections. It compensates for up to 50 ms of differential delay and has a user configurable MTU size for delay versus throughput optimization. The EoT8 supports point-to-point, linear and star architectures. With a linear architecture, the unit can be configured with a number of E1’s in the East and West directions (i.e. Two WAN ports) If more than two WAN ports are required, then the EoT8 can be used. This hardware supports up to four WAN directions. Performance monitoring and diagnostics on the E1 interfaces, such as loop backs and bit error rate on a per interface basis, are provided. Additionally, RMON statistics are available for the Ethernet ports. Full remote configuration using Telnet, SNMP and HTTP Protocols are available. Software download using TFTP is also supported, thus reducing installation time. In addition, for those organizations using HPOV, a plug-in is available to streamline the management of the EoT8 in a HPOV environment. A comprehensive set of SNMP traps and alarms are provided to assist fault management and isolation. The EoT8 Channel Card has been designed specifically to seamlessly integrate into an existing Dynanet Subrack enabling Fast Ethernet services to be transported over multiple E1’s.
