Dear Math Whiz, I am a student at Monarch Elementary School. My teacher taught us how to do long digit division in class today. I was really excited to learn a new skill. When I got home I wanted to show my little brother how to divide. So, I got a pencil and paper ready for our lesson. Then something horrible happened, I forgot how to do long division. I asked my mom if she could help me, but she wants me to learn from my mistakes and wouldn’t help me. Mothers can be like that. I have thought about division all night, and I still do not know what to do. Could you please help me? Thanks, One Confused Kid

Divisibility War

Number of Players: 2 Materials: a deck of playing cards Directions:

1. Shuffle the cards and divide them evenly among the two players.

2. You will play this game like the War card game. On the count of three each player will flip over one card and then state whether the number on the top card is divisible by 2, 5, or 10.

3. Compare your number with your partner. Whoever has the largest divisibility number gets to keep the cards.

4. If you have the same divisibility number, you need to declare war. You will then place three cards face down, and flip the next card to see who has the largest divisibility number. The largest divisibility number gets to take the cards.

5. The winner is the player who ends up with all of the cards.

6. Have fun!

Thank you for your purchase! I use this menu while teaching my Multiplication and Division Unit. I give my students time each day to work on their menu activities. You can use the menu during center time, as individual work, or in your lesson. It’s a great way for students to practice their math skills!
