desserts. Use the checkbric to help you keep track of your work.

Create a PowerPoint on what you have learned throughout our

Multiplication and Division Unit. Your PowerPoint will need to include

slides on:

-multiplication with 2 digit and 3 digit numbers

-long division with and without remainders

-fact families

-how to multiply and divide problems that end in zeroes (example: 5 X

1,000= and 50,000 ÷ 5=)

-divisibility rules

Each slide needs to include information on the topic and examples of

how to solve each of these problems.

Create a multiplication and division brochure. Include a section on

multiplication, division, and the relationship between multiplication

and division. In the multiplication and division section explain how to

solve these problems, list strategies, and give examples. In the

relationship section explain the relationship between multiplication

and division and tell why it is important to understand this

relationship.

Create a multiplication & division dictionary for the following

vocabulary words; array, factor, product, multiplication, multiply, skip

count, divide, division, dividend, divisible, divisibility, divisor, quotient,

fact family, doubles, multiplies. Each word will have its own page. Be

sure to include the word, definition, and illustration or example of the

word for each entry. Your final copy must be in alphabetical order.

Dear Math Whiz, I am a student at Monarch Elementary School. My teacher taught us how to do long digit division in class today. I was really excited to learn a new skill. When I got home I wanted to show my little brother how to divide. So, I got a pencil and paper ready for our lesson. Then something horrible happened, I forgot how to do long division. I asked my mom if she could help me, but she wants me to learn from my mistakes and wouldn’t help me. Mothers can be like that. I have thought about division all night, and I still do not know what to do. Could you please help me? Thanks, One Confused Kid

Divisibility War

Number of Players: 2 Materials: a deck of playing cards Directions:

1. Shuffle the cards and divide them evenly among the two players.

2. You will play this game like the War card game. On the count of three each player will flip over one card and then state whether the number on the top card is divisible by 2, 5, or 10.

3. Compare your number with your partner. Whoever has the largest divisibility number gets to keep the cards.

4. If you have the same divisibility number, you need to declare war. You will then place three cards face down, and flip the next card to see who has the largest divisibility number. The largest divisibility number gets to take the cards.

5. The winner is the player who ends up with all of the cards.

6. Have fun!

Thank you for your purchase! I use this menu while teaching my Multiplication and Division Unit. I give my students time each day to work on their menu activities. You can use the menu during center time, as individual work, or in your lesson. It’s a great way for students to practice their math skills! When using the Dear Math Whiz Letter and Divisibility War Game, print a couple of copies on cardstock and laminate them to use the following year. Thank you again for your purchase!
