MULYAN PUBLIC SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Principal’s Report : Thank you to the large number of children who came along on Saturday and took part in the parade as part of the combined Cowra Schools float for the Festival of International Understanding. The children looked as if they had come dressed for a day in the paddocks and they looked absolutely outstanding. They all were great ambassadors for our school and should be very proud of themselves. Our combined schools float looked outstanding and it fitted in well with both the host country— The United Nations as well as the International Year Dates to remember: of the Farming Family. Thank you to all those people who contributed to this. Also, as part of the Festival Early Stage 1/Stage 1 and Stages2/3 put up window displays at Collins Shoe Store and Harvey World Travel respectively and these both looked brilliant. So brilliant, in fact, that the judges also agreed with me and awarded Stage2/3 first place and Early Stage 1/ Stage 1 with a highly commended. Thank you to the children who contributed to this and to the teachers who put these displays together, Mrs Jeffries, Mrs Murphy, Mrs Statham, Mrs Baratto, Mrs Cummings , Mrs L. Johnson and Mrs Bryant. As well, our school was requested to supply flag bearers for the opening ceremony for the Festival which was held on Saturday, 8th March. Thank you to those students who on short notice were able to come along and assist us and the Festival committee. Your attendance, behaviour and attitude was recognised by the organiser. Well done. Thank you to all parents/carers who ensured that the children were present at school and looking immaculate for school photos. The children looked fantastic and the photographer was most grateful for this and commended how good the children looked and how cooperative they were. Photos should be at school by the end of term. Congratulations to all our students who took part in the Regional Carnival in Dubbo on Friday, 7th March. All students were great ambassadors for our school. A report on the carnival appears later in the newsletter. Good luck to our swimmers who will compete at Homebush. Well done to our boys cricket team who played against Blayney Public School in the second round of the state PSSA Knockout. The game was played in Cowra last week. They were unfortunately just beaten in a very close game. Well done to Mr Ryan and all the boys. This Friday, both the boys and girls hockey teams have been invited to take part in a Hockey Gala Day at River Park. There will be state and local coaches who will put the children through some skills sessions as well as some small games. I will accompany the children on the day. Our tennis team competed against Parkes East Public on Thursday, 6th March. Our students played very well and were unlucky not to win. Congratulations to Ava Spratt, Ellie Hampton, Ethan Funnell & Eden Hoy for representing our school so well. This year the first of the formal reporting to parents will be done via our Parent/Teacher Interviews which will be held sometime during the last two weeks of this term ie 31st March till 11th April. Please take the opportunity to come along and discuss your child’s progress. Extensive research has shown that the more interest that parents/carers have in their child’s education and progress the better this will be. Any issues or things that we need to know can also be brought up at these interviews. Letters with preferences for interview times will be sent home shortly.
