History• 18th century, Dharavi was an
island.• February 1739, Chimnaji attacked
Bassein before, he took possession of Dharavi
• Before 19th century, it was habited by Koli Fishermen.
• Gujarat came to establish potter business
• Maharastrian established leather tanning industry.
• In Dharavi 1st school made in 1930 which lasted for 4 decades.
• 1930 single road from Dharavi went to main railway station.
• Dharavi’s co-operator society was formed in 1960s. Uplift the lives of slum dwellers by making 338 flats and 97 shops name Dr. Baliga Nagar.
