ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATION BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM

Funded by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Goals and objectives:

Stimulate the economy and create and retain jobs; Improve energy efficiency in building, transportation and

other sectors.Build capacity at local level to reduce energy usage; andReduce total energy usage and Greenhouse Gas

MUNICIPAL ENERGY PROGRAM

On September 30, 2009, Cuyahoga County was awarded a $5.7 million grant from the United States Department of Energy (DOE).

County set aside $3 million for the MEP.

Cuyahoga County Planning Commission is administering the MEP.

consumption; Use U. S. EPA Energy Star Portfolio Manager Program:

Monitor energy usage, greenhouse gas emissions and cost savings at county and municipal level.

Analyze building energy performance (i.e. City Hall, Police Stations, Fire Stations).

Compare inventories to other counties and municipalities to identify other energy conservation opportunities.
