Located on Sideroad 3, approx. 1.7 km west of Grey Road 29
Existing Structure
Built in the1940 Single span, concrete rigid frame structure Total deck length of 16.3 metres Provides two 3.65 m lanes, carrying vehicular traffic over the Bighead River Average Annual Traffic Volume of less than 100 vehicles per day (i.e. low
volume)

Structure Condition Structure is 80 years old Various elements have deteriorated
Cracking, spalling, disintegration, exposed rebar
Due to its deteriorating condition, it was posted with a 12 tonne load limit in 2017
2020 Bridge Condition Index (BCI) rating was calculated to be 25.4 (out of 100), one of the lowest in the Municipality
Lifecycle cost analysis concluded the structure is beyond economic rehabilitation
Options considered: permanently close the structure or replace Municipality decided to replace the structure

Frequently Asked Questions What are the construction timelines?
Construction is anticipated to commence in June of 2021 and be complete by November 2021 (pending tendering, agency approvals, budget, and Council approval)
What are the construction costs?Construction costs are anticipated to be approximately $1.6M
Will the load limit be removed with the new bridge in place? The new bridge has been designed for loading in accordance with
the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC), so the load limit can be removed at the Municipality’s discretion
