What We Do
Music Fusion is a music enrichment program developed specifically for children from birth to pre-K who attend child development centers. It is a parent-elective program held during school hours at your child’s care center. Our mission is to provide children of all abilities opportunities to use music to enhance their social, communication, cognitive, and motor skills...and, of course...have lots of fun doing so!
Music Fusion is provided by board certified music therapists at WBMT. Our therapists provide children and adults individual and group music therapy in the Harrisburg and Lebanon areas. With over 10 years of experience in the music therapy field, we use our skills to open the doors for young children to the many aspects of music.
Children will have the opportunity to use a variety of age-appropriate instruments and props such as:
• boomwhackers • hand drums, djembes, and tubanos • shakers, tambourines, and other percussion instruments • scarves, parachute, and buddy band • resonator and table bells • recorders • and much, much more!
Class Structure
• 30 minute class (0-3 years old)
• 45 minute class (3-5 years old)
Classes will be held at a pre-determined, standing day and time. Class groupings are subject to change based on enrollment numbers.
*25-child minimum registration for program*
Through the use of interactive visual aids, live music making, and sign language, children will experience learning
in new and exciting ways!
How Music Makes a Difference in Young Children
Music has the power to make differences in young children’s lives in some of the following ways:
• Music stimulates all of the senses and involves the child at many levels. • Quality learning occurs when children are permitted to experience the joy of play through music. • Music can help a child manage stressful situations. • Because the brain processes music in both hemispheres, music can stimulate cognitive functioning.
Integrated Approach
Each class will follow a similar routine (addressing the classroom theme of the week) of the following music experiences:
• Opening songs and introduction to class topics • Instrument play • Fine and gross motor movement • Musical games • Structured and unstructured sounding and singing • Closing song
