FOREWORD:

When a student undertakes lessons, the student is undertaking a responsibility: a responsibility to show up on time for lessons to bring all materials to practice to pay on time, and; to notify Jays Music and Arts of cancellations and termination of lessons.

TARDINESS: Please come 5 minutes before your lesson time. Lessons will end at their scheduled time, regardless of the time of the Students arrival.

LESSON MATERIALS:

Students are responsible for bringing their instrument/s, notebook, instruction books, and all related material and hand-outs to each and every lesson as designated by the teacher. Students are responsible for the purchase of their own books, instruments, and other materials needed for the lessons they are receiving. The teacher will assist in referring our students to where they can obtain these items. It is advisable for voice students to bring a bottle of water.

LESSON PRIVACY:

Lessons are given on a one on one basis. Parents are welcome to sit-in on lessons, but encouraged to allow students to learn in a student-teacher environment.

PRACTICING:

Good technique can only be achieved through daily practice of the technical exercises. You are therefore required to practice such exercises along with your pieces every day. The teacher instructs how much practice is ideal for each student. Nevertheless, once the instructor is gone it is up the student to do their own practicing. (Recommended practice time should be a half-hour 5-6 days per week) Progress will be made most quickly by those students who maintain the recommended practicing time. Parents are also encouraged to be involved in their students practice. Taking time to listen to your child play their weekly songs, or creating a set time for practicing in the students daily routine are good ways to become involved.

NOTE: Remember that we are interested in your progress as much as you are, but the person who will work for this progress to occur is you.

ATTENDANCE

Attendance of weekly lesson is important in their musical development. Students are responsible for their time slot. A one free lesson credit is given to any student who has perfect attendance over a three month period.
