We Serve From the desk of Lion Michael O’Lonergan, President Hello fellow Lions. It is just about time to say good bye to summer and hello to fall. The wonderful time to enjoy the fruits & veggies of gardens and the farmers market is here. Just like sharing some of the wonders of the garden, we need to continue our sharing and service to those in need like the flood victims and even our local storm victims. Giving thanks for our blessings and appreciating even the smallest wonders helps us get through our own difficult times. Life is a roller coaster of indeterminate length. We help when we can and sometimes receive help when we need it. We need to support each other as in family. Hopefully more positive times are ahead. Fall means football, color tours, hunting, world series, voting and kids going back to school to name a few of my favorite things. Try to at least keep that glass half full. As a club most summer activities like Vision & Hearing screenings, pancake wagon, parade, and flags days are wrapping up. I would like to give A Big “Thank you” to all those who contributed to those activities; Another “Thank You” to Cindy and Dave for a wonderful steak dinner. Candy Days is coming soon and the special pancake breakfast salute to our great police officers. Please stay as involved with those Lion activity things that you can. Remember we always love to see you at the meetings to share our fellowship in good times and even in those difficult times. “WE DO IT BETTER TOGETHER”. Doug Schneider. Also was the presence of former member Carl Luther who has submitted his paper work to rejoin our club. Once again he will be a great Lion. Are you showing your pride in being a Lion? I do not mean are you wearing your Lion’s pin or displaying a Lion’s window decal? I am referring is extending an invitation to those individuals who might become one of us. Before you extend that invitation you should get to know those you think would make a quality member. Our strength comes from active, dedicated Lions. People do not need to be a Lion, they need to want to be a Lion. They must have a desire to serve and are willing to make a commitment to the club to pay their dues and work the projects. At this writing we are waiting for just six members to pay their administrative dues. Not bad. It is planned to have our raffle calendar project all organized and ready to go by September. Just maybe we will get them all sold before December. It is worth a try!Last but not least, you all are asked to continue to keep those of our members, former members and their family members that are ill or recovering in your thoughts and prayers. They include Tom Carl, the Chauvez family, Lion Rol Crummel, Marcy Dreikorn, Lion Ray Jasicki, Lion Ed Mouw, Larry Seastrom, Ray Wiseman and Pat Woods. Lion Gary Wentzloff has had back surgery and is on the mend. He looked great at the steak fry. Jan Weessies is improving. Please keep me posted as to a family loss, who might be ill, been in an accident or had surgery. We are a family.
