` Between MV Superferry 2, a passenger

vessel, and MV General Romulo, a cargo ship.

` Occurred on Thursday, 31/03/2011, at 1750h.







` The MV Superferry 2 came from Nasipit in

Agusan del Norte while the MV GeneralRomulo came from Cagayan de Oro City. Both

vessels were heading for Cebu port, in the

waters off Lawis Ledge in Talisay City, Cebu,

Philippines

` The Superferry II struck the starboard quarter

of the General Romulo causing damage to the

hull and cargo holds.







Who·s at fault?

` The captains of two vessels that collided near the

Lauis Ledge off the coast of Talisay City bothdenied responsibility for the accident.

` Both claim it was the other·s fault.

` MV Superferry 2 blamed the cargo vessel forallegedly moving to the starboard when they werealready abreast of each other.

` MV General Romulo said that they had alreadyadvised MV Superferry 2 to pass by its port sideupon seeing the latter already on its tail.

crossing vessel while undertaking, and the

other ships from its starboard side.

because of the alteration of its course that

` The mishap forced the cargo vessel to dropanchor while mv Superferry 2 continued its tripand safely docked at Pier 5, Cebu City.
