Keep updating your P.E. Logs

Make sure you circle "Yes" on the bottom of each week’s activity log to show you have completed this week's physical education "learning experiences".  This is how we will track your assignment completion and calculate your grade for the quarter.

The next time you will turn your log in to your PE teacher is after June 7 th .

3 rd Grade, 4 th Grade and 5 th Grade

This week's "learning experience(s)":

Activity 1: Find your pulse before, during and after exercise:

Use your index finger + middle finger to find your pulse on your wrist or neck (see the picture below). Once you can feel your pulse… use a timer or clock and count the number of beats for 60 seconds. You can also use a heart rate device such as a Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin etc… if you have one available.

Page 2: mves.ss18.sharpschool.com · Web viewYou can also use a heart rate device such as a Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin etc… if you have one available. Chose an activity you can do for

Chose an activity you can do for at least 15 minutes. It can be a walk with your family, game, sport or any other form of exercise.

Take three pulse/heartrate measurements. One before you begin your activity, one halfway through your activity, and one 20 minutes after you finish. What were your three pulse/heartrate numbers? How did exercise effect your numbers and why?

Activity 2: Take the Fitnessgram push-up test. Below you will find two links. Please ask your parents/guardians before utilizing the two links below. If you don’t want the ads and video suggestions that are commonly found on YouTube, you can use ViewPure (http://www.viewpure.com) . Simply go to viewpure and paste the link below into their website.

The first video is a description of how to take the test. You do not need to use the cone shown in the video. If you would like to place a small, soft object under your chest to let you know you’ve reached the bottom of the push-up you can. But, its not required.

The second video is the audio for the test. It’s the same audio we use during PE class. When you finish you can record your scores. You might want to try and repeat the test throughout the summer to see if you have improved!

This week's "learning experience(s)":

Activity 1: Find your pulse or heart beat: Try one or two of the three choices below

1) Recommended for Kindergarten/1st Grade: Place your hand over your heart. Try and feel it beat.

2) Recommended for 1st and 2nd Grade: Use your index finger + middle finger to find your pulse on your wrist or neck (see the picture below).

Page 3: mves.ss18.sharpschool.com · Web viewYou can also use a heart rate device such as a Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin etc… if you have one available. Chose an activity you can do for

3) Recommended for everyone: Use a heart rate device such as a Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin etc.… if you have one available.

Chose an activity you can do for at least 15 minutes. It can be a walk with your family, game, sport or any other form of exercise.

Check your heartrate or pulse three times (no need to count… just see if you can feel the beats). One before you begin your activity, one halfway through your activity, and one 20 minutes after you finish.

Were you able to feel the beats all three times? If so, which time did it feel like your heart was beating faster? Why do you think that happens? Sometimes if you have trouble finding feeling the beats before your activity, you are able to feel them during the activity… Why do you think that happens? Did the beats feel stronger before, during, or after your activity?

Activity 2: Play the Card Shark Fitness game below if you have a deck of cards.
