Report of MWAN Ondo State Chapter

MWAN Ondo state celebrated 35years of inauguration with honouring of our founding Mothers and past executives on Jan 29th 2020. The new executives for this biennium were also sworn in on the same day.

MWAN Ondo State was involved in the celebration of the World Cancer day and a collaboration was formed with other organization working with cancer by the governor’s wife Arabinrin Betty Akeredolu called” Coalition Against Cancer”. There was a road walk to sensitize the public, free breast examination and cervical cancer screening. There was also free HIV SCREENING and health education on personal hygiene.

MWAN Ondo collaborated with the Ondo state Ministry of Women Affairs and other non-governmental NGOS working with women in the celebration of the International Women’s day. The women were sensitized on rape, child abuse, gender base violence and other issues affecting women.

MWAN Ondo state members are not left out in the fight against COVID 19, we are part of the state response team and some our members have also volunteered to be trained on the management of COVID 19. MWAN members are also involved in health talks and sensitization on COVID 19 at their various hospitals and place of practices. We have done media sensitization on the awareness of COVID 19 and the preventive measures on the local radios and television stations.

MWAN Ondo state presented face mask to Federal Medical centre Owo, Mother and Child Hospital Akure. Face mask were also distributed to female doctors in the state to encourage their work and to assist this institutions in the provision of facemasks to frontline health care workers during this pandemic.
