Celebrating 24 years of defending, restoring, and sheltering lives!

Mission StatementMetro Women’s Center strives to educate the community about pregnancy alternatives so that informed decisions concerning the outcome of pregnancy can be made. Metro Women’s Center places value upon all human life from conception onward. An abortion ends a life prematurely and unnaturally. Metro Women’s Center offers a compas-sionate Christian response to the needs of individuals confronted with challenging pregnancy situations.

Vision StatementBy the grace of God we desire to encourage believers to act positively on their convictions and to step forward to assist individuals with challenging pregnancy situations through our outreach. We desire to see men and women brought to a knowledge that life within the womb is God’s creative work, and we strive to share the Gospel with all who will hear.

Defend~Restore~Shelter Three words which require many hands, willing hearts, fervent prayer, tears, joy, and hard work to accomplish.

Defending life involves interacting with individuals at the point of their crisis. It requires asking them to consider the other person involved in their situation – their unborn child. This year we had the opportunity to defend the lives of eight babies who were at risk of abortion; however, we know of many others whose lives were lost.

Restoring hearts depends first on God. However, it also requires us to step out of our comfort zones and put ourselves in front of people who need the Lord. By God’s grace, four women put their trust in Jesus and at least thirty-seven Bibles were distributed to our grateful clients.

The Amazing Grace Home (AGH) sheltered preg-nant women, and volunteers encouraged, prayed for, and loved our residents. In December, Kim Perfetto joined our staff as the CaseManager/Biblical Advisor for AGH.

MWC volunteers graciously provided more than 1,000 hours of life-affirming aid for our clients this year. These hours represent the hard work part of this venture. Thank you!

As you page through this annual report, our prayer is that you will be encouraged and inspired by the impact your gifts have had on defending life, restoring hearts, and sheltering women and their families for the glory of God. Thank you for partnering with us.

“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

Before visiting MWC, 21 women had experienced 29 prior abortions.

Face to FacePrior to receiving a pregnancy test at MWC, several women stated that they were abortion-minded or undecided about carrying a pregnancy to term. Out of those women, many had positive pregnancy tests. After considering their options and visiting with an MWC advisor, 4 women chose life for their children!

Telephone ContactsIn conversations with women over the telephone, four babies were spared from abortion, while many other callers were not willing to change their minds about having an abortion.

Ultrasound ReferralsMetro Women’s Center provides referrals for free educa-tional ultrasounds for women who are undecided or abor-tion-determined about their pregnancies. An ultrasound helps the mother see her unborn child’s movements in her womb and hear her baby’s heartbeat. This is a life- affirming experience for an abortion-minded woman. Two women accessed free ultrasounds through the Center this year and both chose life!

HOPE ProgramSeventy-two families initially enrolled in the HOPE Program with 38 families actively participating in the program. These families received baby clothing, equip-ment, 18 Pack & Plays, 3 cribs, and 12 infant car seats.

Financial AidThe Acacia Fund, MWC’s client assistance fund, distributed $2,782 in financial assistance for rent, car seats, and other client needs to eleven mothers. Through our partnerships with the Cradle of Hope Motherhood Fund and the Life Fund, thirty-three additional families received over $15,400 in rental assistance.

Pro-Life Prayer Reminder: Pray for pregnancy care centers, adoption agency staff, and volunteers to have the spiritual resources to minister effectively to individuals in crisis and to trust God for every outcome. Over 400 bags of diapers donated!

I am very happy to be here because this center put a smile on my face. The caring and one-on-one privacy was good. It was easy to communicate with them.Adviser seemed very concerned about me; I felt like I had known her my whole life.

I didn’t feel like she was judging me with the situation I’m in.Helpful, supportive, understanding, kind, and sensitive to me.

I felt comfortable; they gave good advice and really listened. The vibes—they made me happy to share personal information.

Christ-centered and she prayed for me and advised me with her whole heart. I like that we talked about God and how we can pray for His help and forgiveness. I came in for financial help, but I left knowing that I’m missing God in my life.

They encourage people with broken hearts to lean on God’s presence. They paid attention to me and made me feel welcome. It felt like home.

The lady talked me into choosing life. Thank God for that! I liked how she asked a lot of questions to me and my partner.

I enjoyed and appreciated the fact that we prayed together at the end. Very comforting. Actually, from my first conversation with the receptionist, it was great!

I like the area where you can receive baby items for points and watch videos on parenting. The service was very fast, and they provided good resources and information.

The help they give pregnant women in need is amazing and touching. God bless!Things were explained clearly, and everything was well-organized.

Adviser listened and gave honest advice.Encouraged me to put my trust in God, which I really liked.

Straightforward, they made time for us and directed us in the right way.

Pro-Life Prayer Reminder: Pray for individuals experiencing post-abortion trauma to come to know and accept the Lord’s forgiveness.

The Amazing Grace Home (AGH) completed its second year of operation in the fall of 2014. Since opening, 15 women, ranging in age from 18 to 32 and representing African American, Asian, and Caucasian ethnicities and diverse family and economic backgrounds, have resided in the home. House parents Keith and Meredith Henderson and new team member Kim Perfetto faith-fully cared for the women throughout the year. Andrea and Brandon Cross and Rochelle Lunde provided respite care at the home. Ten different groups of volunteers provided “Tuesday Night Suppers” for the residents and encour-aged them by sharing personal testimonies and fellowship.

Residents had opportunities for spiritual growth by attending local churches, learning to resolve conflicts Biblically, and working on restoring family rela-tionships. Learning life skills, finding employment, and pursuing individual educational goals kept the women busy. Judy Moessner and Nancy Helfinstine served as Bible teachers for sexual integrity and other issues in the women’s lives. Over the past two years, eleven women chose parenting for their chil-dren, and four women made adoption plans.

Thank you to Joe Perfetto, Jim Scott, Dosco Design Build, Aaron Davis, Twin City Tree, and Quality Grounds Landscaping for your work on special projects around the house. Bible Baptist (Otsego) and First Baptist (St. Fran-cis) youth groups pitched in for yard clean-up and basement floor painting after new drain tile was installed this spring. Many volunteer groups provided “Welcome Baskets” and other special services.

During this second year of operation, we learned a lot, changed a lot, and prayed a lot! The AGH family motto is “Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.” We look forward to the next residents who will come under the shelter of the Amazing Grace Home. Thank you for your prayerful support!
