This has been achieved by separating the detector housing with its complete electronics from the win- dow using light wave guide cable. This design ensures that the function of the electronics, sensor, optical fibre cables and lens, including the transmission (Minimax patent) is monitored. Due to this patented solution an absolutely safe moni- toring of sparks and flames within machine components and transpor- tation systems is ensured. The FUX 3200 L1 UEWA spark detec-tor range is utilised to detect sparksand flames in applications where par-ticularly difficult operating conditionsprevail. This has been achieved byseparating the detector housing withits complete electronics from the win-dow using light wave guide cable.

This design ensures that the functionof the electronics, sensor, opticalfibre cables and lens, including thetransmission (Minimax patent) ismonitored. Due to this patented solution an absolutely safe moni-toring of sparks and flames withinmachine components and transpor-tation systems is ensured.

The detector window consists of special glass developed for extremeconditions and the monitoring of functions.

The short reaction time of <5 ms isalso noteworthy.

The protection tube of the light waveguide cable is available in differentmaterials (stainless steel, plastic and a coated version).

The FUX 3200 L1 UEWA spark de-tector range is used mainly for ma-chine protection, particularly withinmachine components.

Typical applications include:– timber processing industry– panel board presses– electrostatic painting systems– painting robots– motor test benches– machine tools– pellet mills in

biomass power stations– food industry

Over 100 chipboard presses world-wide are effectively protected by acombination of FUX 3200 L1 UEWAand the Minifog® fine spray watersystem from Minimax.

These detectors have been used withgreat success in gas turbines, as evensmall oil leakage fires can be safelydetected, independently of the ex-tremely varying temperatures in theexhaust bearing tunnel.

Technical data

Monitoring of the functionA transmission fibre optics integrated in the light waveguide cable transmits an IR signal to the sensor headwhere, with the aid of a patented process, it is transmittedto the receiver. A malfunction has occurred if the receivedvalue lies outside a defined scale.

This malfunction can be caused by impurities on the window, breakage of the fibre optics, defective detector electronicsor removal of the window. These malfunctions are

a) signalled by a yellow LED on the detector,

b) transmitted to the fire control panel via a fault line.

The FUX 3200 L1 UEWA spark detector range is ideal for all applications where sparks can cause fire and where blazes involving solid and liquid organic materials must beexpected. The sensor in the detector reacts to IR radiationaround 950 nm. By using a special glass only a narrow spectral transmission range is evaluated.

The detectors are insensitive to over-exposure from strong, continuous IR radiation. However, they should not be fittedin the vicinity of a direct strong light source, as reflectionson moving objects in the close vicinity can lead to false signals.
