In John 3:5 Jesus Tells Us: “Verily, verily I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

In 3 Nephi 11:33, 38 Jesus Teaches: “And whoso believeth in me, and is baptized,

the same shall be saved; and they are they who shall inherit the kingdom of God . . . And again, I say unto you, ye must repent, and be baptized in my name, and become as a little child, or ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God.”

In 2 Nephi 31:11 Jesus Says: “He that is baptized in my name, to him will the

Father give the Holy Ghost, like unto me; wherefore follow me, and do the things which ye have seen me do.”

Even though Jesus Christ was perfect, he obeyed Heavenly Father’s commandment to be baptized, setting an example for us to follow (2 Nephi 31: 5-13).

When we are confirmed, we become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Our membership makes us eligible to participate in the blessings and promises that Christ’s church offers. When we are “confirmed,” we are directed to “receive the Holy Ghost” as a companion. He will guide us, warn us, comfort us, and teach us truth. When we are doing what is right, the Holy Ghost will fill our hearts with a peaceful feeling. We must listen carefully to the whisperings of the Holy Ghost. If we try to do what is right, and repent when we make mistakes, we will be able to hear and understand his promptings. If we ignore his whisperings and do not try to do what is right, we cut ourselves off from his promptings until we are no longer able to hear him. (John 3:20-21, Alma 26:22, Helaman 5:30, 1 Cor 3:16-17).

Each week we have the opportunity to take the Sacrament and renew our promises to our Heavenly Father.
