ANALYSIS OF IT MARKET TalentUp.io7
STRUCTURE OF THE SALARIES
Data presentation We do use multiple currency feeds to update our internal currency exchange rates almost every day. For each entry of the contributors, we do save in our database the value in EUR, USD and currency of the input (using current exchange rate). When calculating averages, we do reuse one of those entries based on currency stability and predominant currency in the country to try to minimize cross currency comparison errors.
Salary data was presented in an aggregated format, by default the statistical measure used is Average.
The information was gathered for the hourly, monthly or yearly Fixed Pay. The salaries showed are annual without taxes.
It not includes: Allowances Guaranteed payments Variable Pay Long-term incentive payments Other forms of variable pay
Annual wages were calculated by multiplying monthly wages by 12, weekly wages by 52, daily wages by 5x52 and hourly wages by Wx52, where W is the legal maximum (or the practical, if lower) workweek length in hours. In the case of Barcelona, the workweek length is W = 40.
DEFINITIONS OF TERMS USED IN THE SURVEY
• Average Standard arithmetic average calculated as a sum of all the salaries divided by the number of incumbents.
• PercentilePercentiles show the point at which a certain percentage of observed values occur. For example, the 95th percentile is the value which is greater than 95% of the observed values.
• Change The percentage change is calculated using the following formula: Percent increase = [(new value - original value)/original value] * 100
• ‰ : Per-mille or per-mil means parts per thousand.One per-mille is equal to 1/1000 fraction: 1‰ = 1/1000 = 0.001
ANALYSIS OF IT MARKET TalentUp.io8
• Cost of living The index is extracted from numbeo.com. This website collects data from established sources. These indices are relative to New York City (NYC) which means that for New York City, each index should be 100(%). If another city has, for example, rent index of 120, means that on an average in that city rents are 20% more expensive than in New York City. If a city has rent index of 70, that means on an average in that city rents are 30% less expensive than in New York City. This index is a relative indicator of consumer goods prices, including groceries, restaurants, transportation and utilities. Cost of Living Index doesn't include accommodation expenses such as rent or mortgage.
