3) What have you learned from your audience feedback?

The first audience feedback I gained was from earlier on in my project where I created a questionnaire using Google Docs, which allowed people to easily access and answer my form of questions about trailers, online. This aided our project in many ways such as, allowing us to find out the most popular genre for our potential audience and what conventions of a trailer are more likely to draw in a bigger audience etc.

Doing this has been extremely useful for our initial planning stages and gave us a base to work from. By gaining an insight into why certain conventions of trailers drew people to see a film, it allowed us to gather both quantitative and qualitative data, which is important to understand reasoning behind some of our answers. Doing this questionnaire made us think more carefully about the importance of different features while producing and editing out trailer.

Also once I had completed my ancillary products, I uploaded my final magazine cover and poster on a Padlet board where people can post comments around the images of their opinion and possible improvements. I then asked people of my potential audience to make these comments, which helped me extremely by allowing me to see what a real audience would think of my products if they were published in reality and what improvements I could make to get them to that professional standard.

Knowing what a larger audience may think has made me take a second look at my products and make a few changes, which I feel has allowed me to learn to only include the very necessary conventions that will stand out and appeal to the audience, which is the whole goal.

Throughout my research and planning I sought for my audiences' feedback for opinions on both my ancillary products but the final opinions mattered most for my final trailer. After presenting the draft of our trailer to our peers, it made it clear to us through their feedback that a suspenseful soundtrack was needed for the second half of the trailer. From this, you can see that our audience feedback was vital for the process of improving our final product to make it much more engaging.
