Nature of Work

• People need places in which to live, work, play, learn, worship, meet, govern, shop, and eat. These places may be private or public; indoors or out; rooms, buildings, or complexes, and architects design them. Architects may be involved in all phases of construction project. Architects sometimes specialize in one phase of work only.

Training, Other Qualifications, and advancement

• There are three main steps of becoming an Architect. 1 Attainment of a professional degree in Architecture. 2 Work experience through internship. 3 License through passing the Architect exam. Architects must be able to Communicate their ideas visually to their clients. You have to learn to work independently and as a team

Employment

• Architects held about 132,000 jobs in 2006. A small number worked for residential and nonresidential building construction firms. Only about 1 in 5 Architects are self imployed

Job Outlook

• Employments of Architects is expected to grow faster through 2016. It is expected to grow by 18 percent. Some Architect firms have not thought about the drafting of the construction documents. Despite of good overall job opportunities some Architects many not learn as fast as others

Earnings

• Median annual earnings of wage and salary Architects were paid 64,180 dollars in may of 2006. The lowest you can earn as an Architect is 39,420 dollars. Those just starting can expect to earn a lot less. Many firms also pay tuition to those that are continuing college.
