My Genre - UrbanHip hop music and urban music started in The United States - in New York City - in the

1970's when DJs started to take beats from funk and disco songs and spin them out intonew songs of their own. When this practice became widely used, many clubs scheduledevents showcasing this type of music. These events featured an emcee (MC) thatintroduced both the DJ and the music and kept the audience's energy up. Many wouldtell stories, talk between songs, encourage dancing and tell jokes.

The genre of hip hop music is often said to have been started officially by Keith Cowboy,a rapper with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. Initially, urban music and hiphop music were termed "disco rap." According to lore, the term "hip hop" came aboutwhen Cowboy was poking fun at a friend that joined the army; he scatted the terms"hip/hop/hip/hop" to re-create a sound like soldiers marching. One of the most notableearly hip hop music pieces "Rapper's Delight" by The Sugarhill Gang first incorporatedthe term into the lyrics.

Female will appeal to both male and females as itssomeone to aspire to be like (for females) and someone

to like the look of (males). With Females you can focusof makeup and jewellery to make them a style icon.Close up shots might work better with females as makeup can enhance the eyes; creating better direct address.

Male will appeal to both the genders as its someoneto aspire to be like (males) and someone to like the look

of (females). With Males you can focus on what theyare wearing or how much theyre earning/partying.Long shots might work better as you can see the full

body which could include toned torso and biceps.

Why would I use imageslike those?

Mise en scene:where might possible RECEE images take place?

At a red carpet. This is because most celebritiesattend gatherings such as RedCarpets. To either bepromotional, or to show off

style and the latest fashionstrends. Or try to start latestfashion trends. The red carpetis a representation of wealthand status. Something thatquite a lot of 17-19 year oldswould love to do.

At the beach.Celebrities are usually seen on the

beach on holiday, or doingexercise or partying. It can befamily or friend orientated. Orwanting to show off improved

body figures. The beach is a representation oftrying to get the tan and the so-called perfect body. Majority ofurban music artists do have whatis considered a muscular or toned

    body.

At the Highstreet.Celebrities can be seenshopping in their localtown. Usually New York,

London or Paris wherefashion is always beingupdated. The high streetis a representation ofyouth and culture.Wanting the newest

If female..makeup possibilitiesIf I decide to use a female for my main image on my front cover I shall most likely use this kindof make up so that it will suit the taste of my target audience and also fit in with the genre of

    urbanised trends.

Q&A VIBE: Like Nothing Was The Same, Nas last album,Life Is Good, was greatly influenced by MarvinGayes 1978 LP Here, My Dear.

Drake: Oh wow, crazy. I didnt even know that. Here, MyDear was an influence to me because he was telling sucha vivid story about going through divorce and that

particular relationship. Even though this album wasntreally about a relationship or that specific, I had vividdetails much like that album and wanted to get themacross in that concise format. Here, My Dear wasntMarvin Gayes biggest album. But I think when peoplelook back in 10 years theyll be like, Damn, Hold On,Were Going Home was on this. Started From theBottom was on this. I always think about that feeling, flipping over the CD like, What was on this album?

Different Article types within Vibe Magazine:

PROFILEIggy Azalea was the topic of many conversations in 2014, and itdoesn't look like much has changed in 2015.The nearly 6-foot tall Aussie (she's a smooth 5'10) chopped it upwith GQ to discuss her forthcoming sophomore album, and "TheGreat Escape" tour. While the 24 year old understands most artists only have a fewsuccessful years, she hopes to leave a lasting impression."You never know how long you'll be in people's good graces, especially in this business. So I hope it's longbut I could be herefor three or four years and then be out, like most artists. So itdepends. I might be here for a long time. At the very worst, if Ihave a short-lived career, at least I could say I sparked a changethat I inspired some leniency in what people accept in hip-hop.And if I have a very long career and can be gyrating in a leotardat 35, that would be great."While Azalea is adored by her "Azaleans" fans, the "Fancy"emcee has also experienced her fair share of hate (cough AzaleaBanks), which she's able to brush under the rug due to all heraccolades.

FREEFLOWINGSince arriving on the scene in 2008 with his T-Pain-assisted Low," Flo-Rida has built a solid career by making clubreacords. He's been consistent by dropping monster hits "Club Can't Handled Me," "Good Feeling," "Wild Ones" and "ICry," all of which are RIAA-certified platinum. Also, Flo-Rida was tapped by the NBA to record the theme song, "Get Down

On The Floor," featuring Sage The Gemini for the 2014-2015 basketball season.

Now, the Dade county rep is back to leave it all on the dance floor with the release of his fifth studio album, The Perfect 10.He took some time out of his busy schedule to chop it up with VIBE about his new album, the NBA, why he doesn't cuss onhis records and reminisced on the first rap song he penned.

    Chart Appearances:

    BBC Radio 1 Charts:

    4Music Charts:

Jeremih and Beyonce make anappearance (on the right) on aradio station that plays a whole

variety of music, proving thaturban music is very popular;might suggest a wider audiencereach.

4Music is a very well known chartcompany and as you can see (on theright) there are many artists that fitinto the category of Urban genre

    music.

I think I shall include some of my featuring models and edit their names into the alternative charts so that it will

appeal to my target audience even more because it will show that the magazine has cross-media convergence ifit is in partnership with televised chart shows.

So for the main image on the main cover, sticking with the idea fromVibe; I want a clear image of my model either medium-close up or closeup so that the face is the main attraction; shall be easily recognizable tomy target audience.

For Mise-en-scene (RECEE) I shall most likely choose somewhere wheresports activities occur like a gym for instance, because sports shoes arevery popular within the urban style and genre. Also the high street, again, so that the motif of fashion can be induced as a main andappealing aspect of urbanised culture for my target audience. Theseimages will be used for my contents page and double page spread.

    Overall Initial Idea:
