My Get Ready Book For Learn to Snowboard

with STRIDE

FIRST

• I will need to get ready at home.

• I will wear warm clothes and a winter coat.

• Some things I will need to bring are a winter hat, gloves, and snow pants.

Then• Then I will drive in the

car with____________.• We go to the mountain.• When we arrive we go

into the lodge and find the special room where the instructors are waiting to meet us.

NEXT• I will meet my instructor

and say hello.• I say good-bye

to____________.• I should use the bathroom

now.• I will go with my instructor

to RENTALS and put on all of my warm clothes.

• I will get a snowboard and a helmet and special boots.

• The boots go on my feet.• The helmet goes on my

head.• The board I will carry

outside with me.

Then• Now it is time to go

outside.• My instructor will go with

me and keep me safe.• I will put my feet with the

boots on into the snowboard.

• The snowboard will slide on the snow.

• This might feel very different for me.

• My instructor will teach me to slide, turn, and stop.

• It is o.k. if I fall a lot. Snow is slippery, but fun.

It’s Time To Snowboard

• To get to the top of the mountain I will ride on the chairlift with my instructor.

• When we get to the top my instructor will help me snowboard down the beginner hill.

Things I might Feel• The air is cold

• The snow is cold, soft and slippery.

• The mountain is high.

• If I feel scared or nervous I will tell my instructor and they will understand.

• If I feel excited I will tell my instructor and they will understand.

• If I need to take a break I will tell my instructor and they will give me choices.

• I can go inside and get hot chocolate and rest if I am tired.

Snowboarding can be so much fun!
