PROJECT WORKED (ACADEMIC)

Title: Comparative Study on Different Welding on Low Alloy Steel in as Weld and

PWHT Condition.

Tool: Low alloy steel (SA 387 Gr 12 cl2)

Synopsis: Welding, one of the vital processes in any industry has evolved leaps and

bounds all through these years. Although many advanced joining process is available

in the current scenario, the Indian industry accounts for 80% with conventional

joining process. In this project, an effort is made to study the welding of low alloy

steel (SA 387 Gr 12 cl2) using four different conventional welding process, namely

Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), Submerged arc welding (SAW), Tungsten

inert gas welding (TIG), Metal inert gas (MIG).The mechanical property of the

weldment is evaluated both in as welded and PWHT (Stress Relieved) condition.

The results of this project will enable us to select a suitable process for the required

application.

Completed P.G.Diploma in Piping Design with PDMS (PDMS 12.0.SP6.0 - Plant design management system).
