Year 9 calendar projectwe created a calendar about Sunderland and the

North East of England for a German school

it includes pictures and the description of the pictures in German

we used the computer to create it

I took the calendar back to Germany (during christmas holidays) and handed it over to the German school

in February we received the calendar of our German partner school

it is about their town and region in Germany

the calendar includes pictures and texts in English

we also received some pictures of them and a greeting card

the ID cards had to be in German

pictures had to be taken from everyone

I made a mobile out of it and presented it during a lesson in the German school (half-term break)

we received an answer from the German school after the Easter Holidays

they sent us ID cards, too

I gave this to the German school and we are waiting for a response at the moment

since January I have an own showcase at school

my showcase includes pictures and texts

I update my showcase weekly

every week there is a topic of the week like: German music, German food, German TV ...

that were my projects so far, but ...

we (teachers, pupils and I) will do everything to keep the link between Farringdon and Höchstadt

we are planning a trip to Germany for 2010 to visit Gymnasium Höchstadt and the South of Germany

Personal experience

After the calendar project I received an E-Mail from the head of department of English in the German partner school. She thanked me for my effort and told me that it is very important to do such projects because they will stay in your mind and you will remember them even when you have left school!

Personal experienceI hope that the pupils will remember the

projects! I am sure they enjoyed it and are excited about getting to know the other culture and language more and more

I am really happy to be one of the UK German Ambassadors, without the motivation I wouldn‘t have done all the projects
