My proposal

The song chose I have put forward for the creation of our music video is Chris Brown “Don’t wake me up.”

Don’t wake me up• I have chosen this song because I feel

me and my group will be able to make a good music video based off of the general concept of the song. The lyrics are simple and catchy, the electric beat give me and my group the opportunity to use a variety of editing techniques.

• I feel that me and my group will be able to create an abstract music video for this song, this would allow us to be more creative and imaginative with the footage we decide to use.

Lip synching• Lip synching will be easier as there aren't many

lyrics in the song.

• The fact that there isn't many lyrics means we can focus more on the footage and the different editing techniques such as slow cuts and cross cutting in order to match the rhythm of the song; that and a combination of fast paced cuts and fades as the melody of the song changes to a more up beat rhythm.

• The concept of dreams is random as people could dream about anything so all footage will be useful and give us a lot of room to play with the narrative of our music video if we decide to have one.

Editing• If I was to re create this music video

I would have most of the footage shot outdoors, to allow room for a variety of different scenery.

• I would change the colour of objects in the video such as the sky to create the idea of an unrealistic world.

• The scenery would change a lot, and in places I would like to have the actor/actors walking upside down or even in reverse so add to the abstract reality.

• Fast paced cuts and slow fades are features I would add simply to edit in time with the melody of the song.

Lighting • I believe the best source of lighting is

natural lighting, so if I was to set up the lighting for me and my group to make a video based off of this song I would shoot at mid day when there is a lot of light.

• I would also shoot at different times of the day to have a variety of different lighting effects to add to the theme of dreams.

• This with a combination of the editing techniques I plan to use would make a good video in my opinion.
