MATHIn Unit 7 I learned about pattern block fractions, equivalent fractions, and probability of events.

Some things I am very good at are probability and to cross-multiply.

I would like to show you how I do division in partial products.

I was in Ms. Frazier’s class for Unit 8.1 learned about area and perimeter. I understand the formula’s for area and perimeter.

I learned base times height is the formula for rectangles is the area, base times height ÷2 =the formula for triangles. And add each outer side to get the perimeter.

I will be starting Unit 9 next week. I will be learning about how to convert fractions and I will also learn more about percentage.

Writing  ScriptThis  trimester  I  wrote  a  fantasy  6iction  essay.  First  I  thought  of  ideas  from  ordinary  moments  to  get  my  idea  for  my  topic.  These  were  some  of  my  ideas:I  smelt  mashed  potatoes  and  gravy,  cookies,  and  popcorn.  I  kept  the  hot  water  running  to  long  then  it  was  as  hot  as  a  sauna.  And  I  saw  a  :ire  starting.  I  was  sick  that  day  but  I  got  help  from  a  friend.

Next,  I  chose  my  topic.  My  topic  was  Walking  talking  food.

After  that  I  developed  the  main  characters  of  my  story.  My  main  characters  names  are  Greasy,  Frosty,  Popcorn.  Some  of  their  internal  and  external  traits  are  listed  in  my  composition  book.

Later,  I  made  a  story  mountain.  A  story  mountain  is  a  plan  that  tells  the  beginning,  middle  and  ending  to  your  story.The  beginning  of  the  mountain  is  the  beginning  of  the  story.  The  top  of  the  mountain  is  the  problem  of  your  story.  The  bottom  of  the  mountain  is  the  solution  of  the  story.

Once  I  had  my  plan  I  was  able  to  write  a  rough  draft.  I  will  show  you  my  story  mountain  and  rough  draft.

Our  class  had  a  rubric  to  assess  our  writing.  This  rubric  explains  what  is  expected  of  a  fourth  grade  writer.  I  went  over  the  rubric  with  my  teacher  before  and  after  I  6inished  my  writing  piece.

The  next  thing,  I  learned  in  writing  was  how  to  write  poetry.  I  learned  there  are  many  different  styles  of  writing  poetry.  Some  of  the  styles  I  learned  are  haiku,  cinquain,  free-­‐verse,  acrostic,  and  emotion  poetry.    

I  will  show  you  my  poems  on  my  blog  that  I  uploaded  using  a  application  called  ISSU.  It  is  like  a  magazine  or  book  with  pages  that  turn.

Science

This trimester I learned about magnetism and electricity. First I read an article about Magnus gets stuck that explained how magnets work.

Then I searched the class room to find iron or steel to see what would stick to a magnet. Another experiment we did was about force from magnets. We learned the force from magnets is weaker or stronger depending on how much weight you put on it. Then we wrote a response sheet. I t was a student who did not know he induced a nail with a magnet and we were supposed to explain what happened. Then we learned how to make a light bulb light with a d-cell and two wires. We also learned how to make a series circuit and parallel circuit.

Reading

This trimester I read In The Year Of The Boar And Jackie Robinson, The Great Turkey Walk, When The Circus Came To Town, and The Secret Soldier. My partners were Kim and Anna when we read the books. My book clubʼs name was The Chocolate Scholars.

While reading I learned many different strategies to help me improve my skills. Some of the strategies I used are:Using post-its to write internal and external traits. I had a chart to write the setting, main characters,mood, tech, and vocabulary. I also used the dictionary and thesaurus.

When I would meet with my book club friends after reading a designated number of pages we would discuss some of these issues.We discussed the setting, main characters, moods, tech, and vocabulary. We also predicted what might happen next in the story. We also discussed what already happened in the story. We discussed what the problem was.

The genres I enjoy most are: Historical fiction and fiction (graphic novel)The Great Turkey Walk, The Secret Soldier, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, When The Circus Came To Town, and In The Year Of The Boar And Jackie Robinson.

Some areas I feel I could work a little harder at attaining areWriting the important parts in a book on a post- it and to pay attention the important part in a book on a post-it, and to pay attention to the important part.

Some things I feel I do my best at in reading are:Writing down most of the important parts, using post-its, and to read about the mood.

I do/do not read every night for at least 30 minutes and record This in my planner. I have been successful/need to improve upon this homework assignment. My favorite place to read at home is

Social StudiesI learned about the dynasties of China. The dynasties I studied were the Qin, Han, Tang, Song, Ming, Qing.

I went to the shanghai museum for a field trip. Some things I saw and learned about were Chinese coins, sculptures, and utensils and giant pots used to carry water.

Next, I am learning about Modern China from the end of the last dynasty from 1912 to the present date.[Share time line with parents]

I am presently learning about how our economy works in China. I know that there are many factors that affect our economy. For instance economy is the managing of money, earning and spending and system of producing, distributing and consuming. China started producing more. And people move to China to get jobs.
