You are required to plan the safety aspects of an adventure activity.

The activity involves producing media of an individual who will go from Aira Force car park to Glencoyne car park, via the summit of Place Fell (see map).

Some of the aspects which require addressing are;

Equipment Requirements: Wildswimming Hill walking

SAAS 24/2/2017

Safety equipmento Safety Boat

Specialist first aid equipmentEnvironmental Considerations / weather:

Temperature Water temperature Fell conditions Injury due to environment / weather

o Hypothermiao Exposureo Crampo Frostbite

Site specific hazards: Ferries Other water users

Training: Practice runs First aid training

Competencies: Suitable experience Fitness levels

This list is not exhaustive and should be expanded upon as required.

There are a number of decisions that need to be made with respect this planning activity. Some of these are whether a safety boat will be used and if so what type. Which route on the fell will be used? What sort of event is it? Fun only, media output focused, against the clock. All of these choices have implications for the planning.

A few important points to note:

The intention is that all members of the group will individually contribute to the group, aspects of research pertaining to the Plan.

Each student will write and individual plan of their own. The word count allocated to this section is 2000 words, normally lists, tables, maps

and charts would not contribute to the word count, however due to the nature of the assignment, half (1000 words) can be made up of the items mentioned, with half (1000 words) being comprised of normal word count content.
