Honolulu ─ Taipei

Bagan

We start our vacation by boarding an international flight bound for Southeast Asia. Meals and snacks will be served on the plane. We arrive at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan, with a connecting flight to Yangon.

*** Meet at the airport on Nov. 8 Night since the flight leaves at Midnight. ***

Taipei ─ Yangon

Yangon, previously known as Rangoon, is a former capital of Burma (Myanmar) and the capital of the Yangon Region. Yangon is a relatively quiet and charming city and its impressive colonial and spiritual heritage makes it one of the most fascinating, authentic capitals of Southeast Asia. Upon arrival in Yangon, an Air & Sea Travel Center representative will greet and escort us to our hotel.

In the morning, we transfer to the airport for a flight to Bagan, the capital of several ancient kingdoms in Burma. Upon arrival at Nyaung U airport, we will take a tour to Nyaung Oo Market; Shwezigon Pagoda, the prototype for later Myanmar pagodas built by King Anawrahta; Ananda Temple - King Kyansittha's masterpiece and the crowning achievement of the early style temple of architecture; and Kyansitha Umin. Then, we will have an evening visit to Lacquer-ware Making Home Cottage and Myinkaba Gubyaukgyi Temple, which is famous for its wall paintings depicting scenes from the Jataka. We will also go to Sulamani Temple and Dhamanyangyi Temple for a sunset view of Bagan from Shwesandaw Pagoda.

Yangon ─ Bagan

After breakfast, we will start our sightseeing by visiting Minanthu Village to observe the daily life of the people. Next, let us take a glimpse of the three shrines of Payathonzu Pagoda which are connected by passages adorned with Mahayanist or Tantric mural paintings. Visiting Nandamanya Pagoda is a must, with its fine frescoes and an unexpectedly erotic mural. In the afternoon, we will visit the Laymyathna Pagoda, one of the original pagodas at the time of the founding of Mrauk-U. The monastery has figures of celestial gods such as Indra guarding the doors and depictions of the Birth Stories of Lord Buddha. Then, we can see the typical Myanmar villagers’ life in Phwasaw Village. Free leisure time after lunch. In the evening, we will visit Manuha Temple, a small ancient temple in Myinkaba village, on the right side of the road going south from the walled city of Bagan. In the evening, enjoy the Sunset Dinner Cruise on Ayeyarwaddy River.
