MYLAPS BibTag Decoder firmware 2.0 release notes and instructions
Introduction and reasons for update
MYLAPS is constantly working to improve its products to ensure the highest quality level now
and in the future. To ensure that all systems operate correctly, regular firmware updates of
every system are necessary.
Below are the improvements implemented in firmware 2.0
Implemented a new operating system: Linux kernel V2.6. This operating system is the foundation on which we will further improve the BibTag system.
Beep type setting (the choice between single and continuous) is now possible via Toolkit 2
Number of buffered beeps in “Single beep” mode has been limited to 10 (was 100)
Fixed an issue that caused the modem to disconnect from the GSM network when
experiencing high data throughput
Fixed an issue where it was possible that the modem would not reconnect after it had disconnected from the CCnetServer
Fixed an issue where the modem would need a power cycle after it experienced a SIM-card error.
Fixed an issue where the internal readers would not startup when powering on the BibTag decoder.
Good to know
Make sure to check your settings as the decoder will revert to factory defaults, don`t forget to set:
o Number of antennas o Profile o Time zone o GSM settings (write these down before updating!) o Time Between Same Chip
After the update firmware 2.0 will show „Firmware expired‟ until GPS lock.
The decoder cannot be switched back to firmware 1.3, this is because the operating system is different.
Warning: Make sure you have extracted all data from the BibTag decoder before updating the firmware as all data / files will be cleared. Although updating is easy, it is strongly recommended that you update your Decoders well ahead of a race and not on a race day! Make sure the BibTag decoder is connected to mains power before updating your decoder If for some reason the update fails, make sure not to switch off the BibTag system. Just try it again until the update is fully completed.
