The Myrtle Avenue Plaza project was selected in the first round of the Department of Transportation’s NYC Plaza Program. The concept for a plaza on Myrtle resulted from extensive public input that called for improvements to the Avenue’s sidewalks and public spaces. The reconstruction of the streets and sidewalks of Myrtle Avenue between Hall Street and Emerson Place will begin in fall 2014. Portions of the asphalt service road will be replaced with 25,000 square feet of public space, trees & plants, public seating, areas for community activities & more.
