Local leagues have expressed great interest in being more involved with theMYSA to more effectively promote their leagues to the community.

HELPING YOUTH SPORTS TEACH MORE THAN JUST A GAME

There is a shared concern about providing quality coaching, and addressing

problematic behaviors in an effort to improve the culture of local youthsports. Every league we met with said they would gladly participate incoaching clinics conducted by MYSA. Developing high quality, comprehensive coaching clinics for the youth leagues will be a majorpriority for MYSA.

HOSTING SPECIAL COMMUNITY EVENTS AND YOUTH SPORTSTOURNAMENTS

For years Meridian has hosted the most consistently successful and growingannual youth sports events of their kind in the area. These Special Eventsand Tournaments will be vital to providing funding for MYSA operations, andalso provide hundreds of thousands of dollars in economic benefit to thecommunity.

MYSA will continue the established efforts that have brought excellence toour current events and explore opportunities to add exciting new eventsthat bring revenues to MYSA, benefit our local families, and bring tourismand recognition to the community of Meridian.

The key to success is to stay true to our mission of having a positive impactin the lives of children and their parents through quality youth sportsprograms and events.

USSSA Baseball

Economic Impact Formula

1. Number of teams ( x)

2. 25, the average number of players, fans, coaches, spectator per team,( x)

3. Days of event ( x)4. Daily Average Cost of Meals, Lodging and Incidentals ( x)5. Impact Factor – the impact of outside dollars on the local economy for

rollover. 1.65 is the Impact Factor.

10 teams x 25 x 2 days x $ 200.00 (conservative) x 1.65=

$165,000.00 per Tournament

This is what is realized when the “new dollar” into the

community is spent up to 5 times. Each time the new

money is spent a portion is lost due to taxes, so the dollarloses its economic impact to community over time and the

community becomes “stale”. Communities have to

generate “new money” to prosper, otherwise, they don’t

grow.

Lauderdale County Baseball Travel Teams2010

There were 12 USSSA baseball travel teams in Lauderdale

County. The team’s ages ranged from 7 to 14. Each team

traveled outside Lauderdale County an average of 8 times

last year. The Teams will begin the Travel season again in

February of 2011.

Using the Same formula the USSSA uses to determine

economic impact. We can determine the real dollarsLauderdale County residents are spending in other

communities.

Teams, X Players, Parents, and Fans, X Days of Event, X

average daily cost(Hotels ,Meals Gas, and Incidentals), X

number of out of town Tournaments = Real Dollars Spent

Real dollars spent by Travel Teams from Lauderdale County in other Cities

around our State.

12 teams X 25 fans and players X 2 days X 200$ average daily cost X 8out of town Tournaments =

$960,000.00 per year.

Thank you for reviewing this information. Please let us know if you haveany questions.
