North vs. SoThe civil warwas over almost 150 years ago, but the country is still divided. The mason

Dixon line, which goes as far North as Arkansas, Kentucky and West Virginia is the

declared boarded between the north in south, but is it culturally? Can you even define all

states below the mason Dixon line to be Southern like Texas? Every state in the south is

its own style of southern. Mississippi and Georgia are two examples, Mississippi being

the more conservative state. Memphis and Atlanta both fall below the Mason Dixon line,

but if you go to these cities t hey share some of the same characteristics as cities above

the mason Dixon Line. The cultural difference is day and night, sweet and unsweet. It is

important for a new college student leaving t he south to understand these differences.

The quote “either adapt to change or get left behind” is an idea to keep in mind for

people moving to another part of the country from the south. Getting along with co-

workers and just meeting new people at a new job is a necessity .By sharing some of the

same characteristics as other people; you can more easily make friends. Making friends

means more connections more fun and possibly even more job possibilities. Byacknowledging the differences and adapting to the culture around you, l ife in general will

be better.
