Soar on the wings of inspiration. The 2015–2016
Dayton Performing Arts Alliance season transports
you to artistic heights never before envisioned.
Here we present nine series and multiple special events
performed by the Dayton Ballet, Dayton Opera, and the
Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Some programs even
blend all three art forms into one incredible experience.
Welcome to ASCEND.
It all starts on May 16, 2015, when all three art forms
help inaugurate the sparkling new Music Center at
the Heights with a splashy tribute to the glorious
song, dance and music of Rodgers & Hammerstein.
Then, come downtown to Summer in the City for the
first-ever July festival at the Schuster Center celebrating
rock and pop music, all backed by the full Philharmonic.
In September, the new season explodes onto the
Schuster stage with American Mosaic. This spectacular
program includes seven art forms as the DPAA is joined
by the Bach Society of Dayton, Dayton Contemporary
Dance Company, The Human Race Theatre Company,
and Muse Machine. Join us as we celebrate the
amazing legacy of 50 years of generous support
from the Miriam Rosenthal Foundation for the Arts.
The season takes off as each series debuts with
exciting programs that present each of the classical
arts with new discoveries, insights, and drama.
And the biggest event is yet to come. In May 2016, the
DPAA presents the world premiere of a one-act opera
written by our Music Alive Composer-in-Residence, Stella
Sung. The Book Collector, a mystical murder intrigue,
effectively sets up the second half of the program:
Carmina Burana, performed by Orchestra, Opera Chorus,
DPO Chorus, and the full Dayton Ballet ensemble.
So order your series package now, and claim a
front-row seat for the most amazing performing
arts season in the history of Southwest Ohio.
ASCEND. Come fly with us.
Escape the boundaries of the expected.
