    Odessa, Ukraine

In my recent trip to Ukraine/Russia I had the privilege of visit-

ing with and speaking to many of the Pastors in the Odessa region.

Pastor Denis (seated immediately to my right) is the Pastor of the

great church called “Central Church” in Odessa, Ukraine. His

father, Pastor Peter, not pictured, was the pioneer of the Central

Church during the old communist days.

Pastor Denis and the other Pastors are very open to our ministry

to orphans and widows and we are blessed to have them as our

friends. We work closely with them whenever possible.

    Orphanage in Odessa Region

This is just one of many orphanages in the Odessa Region.

Viktoria and her team from the Central Church minister to thou-

sands of orphans and elderly. They go, cut their hair, teach them

about Jesus, teach them how to be Godly boys and girls and teens.

They love on them daily as our outreach in Ukraine continues to

grow. So many children just in this area, only God knows them

    all.

    Perm, Russia

In the years of Communism Perm, Russia played a key role.

It was a closed city. That means that if you lived there you

could not leave and if you didn’t live there you could not visit.

It was a city that made arms and ammunition as well as trained

military men for war. But if you were a Russian during those

    terrible days of communism

    Perm had the reputation of

what we called in the West-

ern World “The Salt Mines of

    Siberia.”

    Stalin was guilty of mur-

    dering many millions of his

own people and in the Perm

    Region the death toll was

    over 12 million people.

Many were sent to the salt

    mines and starved or worked

    to death.

    The picture on your right

is a picture of a building that

is right in the heart of the city

of Perm. It is called by the

    local people “The Tower of

    Death.” This is where many

of those sentenced to the death camps would come to be proc-

essed and before they could even get to the salt mines they

were murdered right here. Many Christians lost their lives be-

cause communism would not tolerate those who served any

    other God than communism.

At one time there were over 100 prison camps in the Perm

Region and slave labor was quite common. I have been to

many of these prisons and I have visited some of the historical

sites where the salt mines are located and the devastation of

what communism did to these people is still very real even

    today.

Why is it that so few people speak of the evil that exists in

our world today? Why is there only a nominal voice speaking

against sin? Our churches are not speaking about absolutes

such as heaven and hell, good verses evil, God verses Satan.

We are so busy trying to please everyone that we have forgot-

ten the only one we need to please is God. Love God and love

our neighbor as we love ourselves is the only commandment

that Jesus gave all of us to do.

Evil is very real. We see it all the time in many of the or-

phanages and elderly homes we visit. God is also very real and

truly He will overcome the evil in this world. If God be for us

    who can be against us?

  • Real People You Help By Praying

    & Supporting NHOM

This is usually my favorite page to

present to you. It shows the many

faces of just a small portion of the

people that are assisted by your

    prayers and support. Over the

    years hundreds of thousands have

    been ministered to because you

have caught the vision with us.

Please help us to continue to help

    the helpless.

    Proverbs 31:8-9

“Speak up for those who cannot

    speak for themselves; ensure jus-

tice for those being crushed. Yes,

speak up for the poor and helpless,

and see that they get justice.”

Please Help us to continue helping

the widows and orphans that God

    leads us to.

The war is ebbing and we

would really like to complete our

widow center that is located on

our property in Sri Lanka. We

    need approximately $10,000 for

    the complete project.

Now is the time for us to move

on this project. If we don’t do

    something soon the Hindu’s and

Muslims will take over with all

    there mysticism and pageantry

    and hatred towards Christians.

Folks this is a new war not

    against flesh and blood but

against the evil rulers and au-

    thorities of the unseen world,

    against those mighty powers of

    darkness who rule this world;

against wicked spirits in the heav-

    enly realms. (Ephesians 6:12

    NLT)

We need you to intercede for

this project in ways maybe you

haven’t in the past. Give if you

    can but pray for victory.

    Ethiopia

We see scenes just like this in every nation we work. Homeless

children, living and sleeping on the streets, begging, stealing, and

doing whatever it takes just to survive. We at NHOM believe we

can, with God’s help, make a difference in many of their lives. Pov-

erty should never be an excuse for sin. We need to work hard to help

these. AIDS is a major problem with adults and youth. Rape and

mutilation of little girls and teens is also very prevalent. Can you

help? Yes, you can! Pray and support this work as we tear down the

powers of darkness with God’s help.

    India

We have been given a piece of

property with buildings on it but

we are in desperate need for a

    water purifying system. We can-

not drink the water. Is there

someone out there that can donate

$1,000 to bring fresh water to our

    orphanage.

The children are in need of

    Christian reading materials and

    teaching supplies as well.

    Ekaterinberg, Russia

    Igor and Olga have developed

into quite a good team. They con-

tinue to develop their skills in

    ministering to the widows and

orphans in their areas of ministry.

    Volunteers are necessary for the

work we do and Igor trains them

well for the work. Igor and Olga

    use skits, puppets, video, audio,

    teaching and preaching skills and

whatever else to bring souls to the

Kingdom of God. Pray for the

    work they are involved with.

Standing on the bank of the Nile River in northern Ethiopia are the

latest addition to the NHOM team. We have begun a widow and

orphan center in this part of the world. On the far right in white

shirt is our friend Pastor Ambelie Negash whose vision and help to

establish this work has been a big blessing. All the children pictured

are orphans and part of NHOM’s family, your neighbors.

    Perm, Russia

    Natasha and Olga are do-

ing a powerful work in Perm.

    Visiting orphanages, elderly

    centers, children’s prisons,

    drug rehab centers and tuber-

    culosis hospitals for kids are

    daily routines for these faith-

ful women. They are loved at

    every orphanage by the chil-

dren and staff. They are de-

    serving of our praise and

    prayer support.

    Odessa, Ukraine

    Viktoria is a great blessing

to NHOM and the work that

is being done. She and her

    team of volunteers visit thou-

    sands of orphans to make

their lives a little more toler-

    able in the orphanages. She

is faithful and diligent in her

    work. She trains volunteers

and has a heart bigger than

    anyone I know. She truly

    loves her work, the orphans

    and widows and her God.

  • Great Joy—Great Heart-

    ache

    These are just some of

the emotions we feel as we

    visit the widows and or-

    phans and see the plight

they must face on a daily

    basis. However, there is

    very little that can prepare

any of us at NHOM for

what we see and experience at the handicapped orphanages and elderly homes

we visit. There are never enough wheelchairs, walkers, workers, supplies or

finances to help these that are so helpless. All of the pictures on this page are

of those handicapped we work with but by no means does it reflect the num-

bers of kids and handicapped orphanages we help regularly. We visit them and

do what we can to love them. We hold them, pray for them, laugh with them,

cry with them and then we cry some more when we leave them. Come, go

with us, help us, pray for us, provide for us to continue to reach out to these

that even family have deserted. Without you we can’t go!

Prayer Requests 1. Pray for the safety of our workers in Sri Lanka.

Civil war and terrorists has devastated the area around Jaffna. People continue to flee the north

country. Our workers have had to dodge bullets and

bombs to get their jobs done. They desperately need us to intercede for them.

    2. Pray for funds for the work that is taking place in

building a new church, Bible school and center in Sri Lanka for widows and their children.

    3. Pray that God would grant traveling mercies for

all of our teams as they encounter some of the vilest of road and trail conditions.

    4. As prices continue to escalate at home and over-seas pray that God would continue to provide for

essentials in the need of our teams, orphanages and

    the NHOM ministry.

    5. Pray that God would continue to give our teams

in Russia & Ukraine favor with the orphanages,

widows and elderly homes. 6. Pray for our teams in America, Russia, Ukraine,

Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and India and the hundreds of

volunteers in these areas that help in this ministry. They are daily on the front lines of Spiritual warfare.

They work tirelessly in some of the most extreme

conditions with some of the most unlovely people and they do it with great joy.

    7. Pray that God would raise up a leader to assist the

Shane’s in NHOM’s development and future growth. 8. Pray for $100,000 to build a building for our An-

gel’s of Hope children’s home in India.

    9. Pray for Pastor Basil and his family that they might find a country where they can worship the

    Lord in peace and freedom.

    10. Pray for our nation that we would return to the Lord with great repentance and for the revival that

    needs to take place.
