Brothers and Sisters - members all,

As most of you know, last month we had a vote put to the lodge floor by a couple of Trustees to change our Bylaws. This vote would have changed the House Committee from one appointed by the E.R. to a rotating House Committee consisting of the five Trustees and the four sitting officers: the E.R., Lecturing Knight, Loyal Knight and Leading Knight. It was voted down by the slightest of margins (15 of 33 votes for - 17 needed to pass).

This is now behind us, and the Lodge has another divisive conflict to heal from. As fellow Elks above all, let's put our best foot forward, and please try to do so. As always - TOGETHER WE STAND, divided we fall.

We always need new and existing volunteers to help with everyone's efforts in sustaining the Lodge. No one person can do it alone. All help is GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Thank you for your patience. I do want this Lodge to succeed, prosper and continue on for many, many more years, as I'm sure we all do.

DARTS: A schedule has been provided on the website www.gcelks.org for anyone who would like to root on one of their favorite Elks teams.

BOWLING: The bowling league is still looking for bowlers for anyone interested. They bowl at Camelot Bowl in Collinsville, IL on Thursdays. The league starts at 6:45pm. Non-members are also welcome to bowl.

The House Committee would like to thank all of the members who supported the House Committee at the last meeting. It really means a lot to our committee. A special thank you goes out to our own Alex Wilson for all his efforts.

We further want to extend our thanks to the crew that put away the stage for us at our last outdoor concert. Please let us know who you are so we can purchase a beverage for you.

Entertainment: Bill Kee is doing a great job booking bands for the lodge. We have more in-store for the winter months. Please keep your eyes peeled in up and coming newsletters.

And, back by popular demand.... Billy Peek will be performing in the lodge hall Friday, Januray 30, 2014 with a steak dinner sold seperately. More details to follow.
