N o v i t à Your Cultural and Social Newsletter Volume 5 www.italianamericanclubofvenice.com May 2012 Hello Everyone, Just when I thought the busy times were about to settle down...they didn’t! The Club rallied around and supported the Cirque Italia Show Aquatic by manning our information booth, ushering, ticket taking & promotion of this entertaining “circus”! Many of our members enjoyed the show as guests of Manuel/George/Sandro/Roberto & Pamela. We helped raise funds for the Venice Arts Foundation in their quest to resurrect the Ringling Circus Arena. Ultimately, Venice may become a “Circus town” once again. Thanks for your generous participation. Many recent Club events have been “Sold Out” and more members are attending. Involvement really does equal enjoyment! Keep coming! Next on the agenda is our great Mother’s Day Brunch (Member Mom’s free) & in June, Father’s Day Breakfast (Member Father’s free). Many of our “Snowbirds” will miss these events but best wishes are sent to you for a healthy & happy summer. See you in the Fall. The Scholarship Committee, consisting of Carlo Ferroni, Ron DeBacco & Marion Capecci, has been diligently studying the applications from 30 VHS students. The scholarship winners will be introduced at the May 3rd General Meeting with parents & family in attendance for

this happy occasion.

The Italian American Club of Venice is delighted to report that this year it has increased the number of scholarships it will award from 9 to 10. We are proud to make these

awards to deserving recipients from Venice High School. It is in keeping with our tradition that we continue to offer our assistance to hard working, deserving students that we

know will have an impact on our community and nation in the years to come.

The Italian American Club agrees with our past Scholarship Chairman Mario Capecci’s words, “that every child should have the opportunity to earn a college degree”.

Feast Appreciation Picnic 4/15/12

Well I’m happy to say I finally had an opportunity to thank all those who worked so hard at the Feast. That opportunity was an outdoor event under a tent in front of the club, decorated by Linda B with “Stars” as the theme. It was attended by more than 140 people, STARS every one of them! The entertainment was great! Tom C kept the music playing, comedian Pat Capuzzi outdid himself offering a full hour of laughs, with many reminders of the good old days! Ahhh, laughter is the best medicine! The outdoor bar was very busy and so was the delicious buffet display, set up by Caterer Johnnie Poole. Root Beer & Orange Ice Cream floats, suggested by Bob Houston, topped off a beautiful sunny day that was enjoyed by everyone. I also want to thank those members who spread the word about our 24th Annual Feast, namely Tommy Longhi (schools flyers), Lou Sclafani (flyers & signs), Bobby Ubaldo (mobile signs on truck) & Diane Houston (flyers). This advance publicity helped to bring the crowds to the airport grounds.

Congratulazioni a tutti! Un buon lavoro!

Bravo, Brava, Bravi! Mille grazie, Bruce Note to all: Bruce asked everyone to fold up a chair & take it into the club for pick-up the next day. Before you knew it, all the tables were cleared, folded & also placed ready for their pick-up too! What a group! It was much appreciated! It’s true: “Many hands make light work.”
