Tính từ sở hữu - Possessive Adjectives
Khi bạn muốn nói Mẹ của tôi, bạn không thể nói I’s mother hay the mother of I. Trong trường hợp này, sở
hữu chủ là một đại từ nhân xưng, vì vậy chúng ta phải sử dụng một tính từ sở hữu (possessive adjective).
Các tính từ sở hữu cùng với các đại từ nhân xưng (personal pronouns) tương quan như sau:

Cái tính từ sở hữu luôn đi trước danh từ mà nó sở hữu và các danh từ này không có mạo từ đi theo. Ví dụ:
my mother (Mẹ của tôi)
his work (công việc của anh ta)
our office (cơ quan của chúng tôi)
your good friend (người bạn tốt của anh)
Tính từ sở hữu được dùng để chỉ một người hay vật thuộc về một ngôi nào đó.
Khái niệm “thuộc về” ở đây phải được hiểu với nghĩa rất rộng.

Tính từ sở hữu trong tiếng Anh lệ thuộc vào người làm chủ chứ không thay đổi theo số lượng của vật bị sở
hữu. Ví dụ:
He sees his grandmother.(Anh ta thăm bà)
He sees his grandparents.(Anh ta thăm ông bà)
Người Anh có thói quen sử dụng tính từ sở hữu trong nhiều trường hợp mà người Việt Nam không dùng.
Ví dụ:
He has lost his dog.(Anh ta lạc mất con chó)
He put on his hat and left the room.(Anh ta đội nón lên và rời phòng)
I have had my hair cut.(Tôi đi hớt tóc)
She changed her mind.(Cô ta đổi ý)
Tuy nhiên, trong một số thành ngữ, người ta lại thường dùng mạo từ xác định the hơn là tính từ sở hữu,
nhất là những thành ngữ với in. Ví dụ:
I have a cold in the head.(Tôi bị cảm)
She was shot in the leg.(Cô ta bị bắn vào chân)
He got red in the face.(Anh ấy đỏ mặt)
She took me by the hand.(Cố ấy nắm lấy tay tôi)
The ball struck him in the back.(Quả bóng đập vào lưng anh ta)
Sở hữu cách (possessive case) là một hình thức chỉ quyền sở hữu của một người đối với một người hay
một vật khác.
Do đó, Sở hữu cách chỉ được hình thành khi sở hữu chủ (possessor) là một danh từ chỉ người. Một đôi khi
người ta cũng dùng Sở hữu cách cho những con vật thân cận hay yêu mến. Trong tiếng Anh, chữ of có
nghĩa là của. Nhưng để nói chẳng hạn Quyển sách của thầy giáo người ta không nói the book of the
teacher, mà viết theo các nguyên tắc sau:
1. Thêm ‘s vào sau Sở hữu chủ khi đó là một danh từ số ít. Danh từ theo sau ‘s không có mạo từ:

The room of the boy - The boy’s room (Căn phòng của cậu bé)
2. Đối với một số tên riêng, nhất là các tên riêng cổ điển, ta chỉ thêm ‘ (apostrophe):
Moses’ laws, Hercules’ labours
3. Với những danh từ số nhiều tận cùng bằng S, ta chỉ thêm ‘.

4. Với những danh từ số nhiều không tận cùng bằng S, ta thêm ‘s như với trường hợp danh từ số ít.

Người ta thường dùng các từ sau với cấu trúc there + to be: many/much :nhiều; some :một vài; any :bất
cứ, cái nào
(many dùng với danh từ đếm được, much dùng với danh từ không đếm được)
Ví dụ:
There are many books on the table. (Có nhiều sách ở trên bàn)
Nhưng: There are much milk in the bottle. (Có nhiều sữa ở trong chai)
Chúng ta dùng some trong câu xác định và any trong câu phủ định và nghi vấn.
Ví dụ: There are some pens on the table.(Có vài cây bút ở trên bàn)
There isn’t any pen on the table (Không có cây bút nào ở trên bàn)
Is there any pen on the table? Yes, there’re some. (Có cây bút nào ở trên bàn không? Vâng, có vài cây).
Khi đứng riêng một mình there còn có nghĩa là ở đó. Từ có ý nghĩa tương tự như there là here (ở đây).
The book is there (Quyển sách ở đó)
I go there (Tôi đi đến đó)
My house is here (Nhà tôi ở đây)
II- How many, How much
How many và How much là từ hỏi được dùng với cấu trúc there + to be, có nghĩa là bao nhiêu.
Cách thành lập câu hỏi với How many,
How much là
How many + Danh từ đếm được + be + there + …
hoặc
How much + Danh từ không đếm được + be + there +…
Ví dụ:
How many books are there on the table? (Có bao nhiêu quyển sách ở trên bàn?)
How much milk are there in this bottle? (Có bao nhiêu sữa trong cái chai này?)
a/ an/ some/ any/ a lot of/ lots of/:- a/ an : dùng trước danh từ số ít.( “an” đặt trước danh từ bắt đầu là 1 nguyên âm)
- a lot of = lots of = many = much : nhiều Ex: There are a lot of bo0ks on the shelf.
Ngoài ra: * How much + danh từ không đếm được + do / does + S+ need / want? S + need(s)/want(s) + some / ………. + N * How many + danh từ đếm được số nhiều + do / does + S + need / want? S + need(s)/want(s) + some / …..+ N.

- Dùng để chỉ một vật, một người ở gần. - Danh từ theo sau là danh từ số ít đếm được. - Động từ theo sau là động từ ở ngôi thứ 3 số ít.

THE SIMPLE PAST TENSE : THÌ QUÁ KHỨ ĐƠN
CÁCH SỦ DỤNG: Thì quá khứ đơn dùng để diễn đạt một hành động đã xảy ra và kết thúc
trong quá khứ không kéo dài đến hiện tại. Trong câu thường có các trạng từ chỉ về thời gian quá khứ rõ rệt như:- Yesterday ( hôm qua), yesterday morning, ........- Các từ có liên quan đến từ last như: last Monday, last week, last month, last year,...
- Các từ có liên quan đến từ ago như: 3 days ago, 4 weeks ago, 5 years ago, ... - Các năm đã qua so với thời gian hiện tại: in 1975, in 2011,... - Từ FOR ( chỉ khoảng thời gian): for 3 days, for 3 weeks, for 3 years, ......... I/ Đối với động từ to be: Khi chuyển qua phủ định và nghi vấn chúng ta không cần đến sự trợ giúp của trợ động từ to do.

b/ Thể phủ định:

II/ Đối với động từ thường: Khi chuyển qua phủ định và nghi vấn chúng ta phải cần đến sự trợ giúp của trợ động từ to do.
Chú ý: Động từ thường khi chuyển sang quá khứ có hai loại: quy tắc và bất quy tắc,
a/ Động từ quy tắc: Khi chuyển sang quá khứ ta thêm ED Ex. to play played, to need needed, to arrive arrived, ....
Cách đọc ED: Động từ thường khi chuyển sang quá khứ thêm ED và có 3 cách đọc:
1/ Đọc là /id/: các động từ có tận cùng là các âm: t, d Ex: to want – wanted , to need – needed , to collect – collected, to end – ended ,.... 2/ Đọc là /t/ : các động từ có tận cùng là các âm: ce, sh, k, f, ph, x, ss, p, ch, gh Ex: to look – looked, to wash-washed, to produce – produced, to miss- missed to watch – watched, to laugh- laughed, to mix – mixed, to camp- camped 3/ Đọc là /d/ : đối với các động từ không ở hai trường hợp trên. b/ Động từ bất quy tắc: Khi chuyển sang quá khứ ta tìm thấy ở cột thứ hai trong bảng động từ bất quy
