Dear Young Families & Friends,

We are extremely excited about the response we’ve had for the

5th Annual Nancy Young Elementary Run for Fun. In order to

make your day more productive, we’ve put together this booklet

to help you prepare for race morning.

Special thanks to the incredible team of volunteers who have

stepped up to make this event possible. It takes a ton of time and

talent to put together an event this big, and this group of

volunteers has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Be sure to

thank them for their time and efforts.

Be sure to congratulate Claudia Gryzb for her outstanding

artwork that was displayed on this year’s t-shirt.

Great job, Claudia!

RACE DAY REMINDERS

Parking As we prepare for a large crowd, we ask families from the Oakhurst North subdivision to walk to the event if possible. For those who are

driving, you may park at the school or the Sportscore. Keep in mind

streets will be severely restricted at 8:00am for the race. If you are arriv-ing late, plan to park across Liberty Street in the OHN neighborhood.

Other No heelies, scooters, skateboards or bikes will be allowed.

No dogs are allowed on school property.

Silent Auction This year will be accepting Visa and MasterCard for convenience, as

well as a check made payable to Nancy Young PTA. There are great

items to bid on, so don’t forget to come browse the table on Saturday!

RACE DAY REGISTRATION

If you haven’t pre-registered, you can still be a part of this

great event! Same day registration is available for $35 per

runner and $55 per family of four. Sign-up between 7:00-

8:45 am in the gym. T-shirts cannot be guaranteed for

same day registration, but you are still invited to the post

race party/pancake breakfast!

RUN FOR FUN SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

3:30-8:00 pm Friday, May, 11th: Pre Race Packet Pick-Up

7:00-9:00 am Saturday, May 12th: Packet Pick-Up

Located in the NYE gym. Please enter through the far north

parent pick-up door.

Packets will include your bib #, t-shirt, timing chip and goody bag.

Restrooms will be open if you would like to change into your race

t-shirt.

8:15am: 5k Run Race Line Up—Please line-up with your pace in mind.

The first wave of each event is for the “elite” runners, and the second

wave is for the more casual participant. Faster paced runners should

line up in the front for each wave, followed by slower paced runners/

joggers. Remember that your time will not officially start until your

timing chip passes the timing mat. Listen to pre-race announcements

for more information.

8:25 am: Singing of the National Anthem—NYE Chorus

8:30 am: 5k Race Start

(Led by the Subway Pace Car)

9:05 am: 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk Line-Up

9:15 am: 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk Race Start

Steak n Shake Post Race Party

Join us for the Post Race Party in the MPR

when you are done running. Pancakes, bacon, fruit, muffins &

juice will be served.

Complimentary Starbucks Coffee will be available all morning just

outside the gym. NEW this year—Gluten Free Pancakes and

Baked Goods—provided by Dawn Hoag.

10:15 am: Awards Ceremony

Trophies & gift certificates will be presented to the Top 3 Overall

Male & Female 5K finishers.

Trophies will be awarded to the Top 3 boy and the top 3 girl 5K

finishers for each grade level in grades K-5.*

Top 5k male and female age group winners will also be

recognized.
