This past Farmer’s Market was a treat! Actually, is was pretty much a full meal and didn’t have to go to lunch! In conjunction with our monthly Otsuji Farmer’s Market, Chef Matt Holmes of Times Supermarkets came down to our office to do a food demo, and we basically had a three course meal! First Chef Holmes started out the showing us how to make a Tuscan Kale Salad, then he went on to do a main dish of salmon and prime rib and to end it with a sweet note, we also had a strawberry dessert! These were delicious recipes and techniques that are easy for home cooks for a healthy, simple, family-friendly meal.

All these ingredients, especially Sterling Silver® meat products can always be found at your local Times Supermarkets, and the fresh veggies can be found at our monthly Farmer’s Market from Otsuji Farms. Special thanks to Bob Stout and the rest of the Times Supermarkets’ staff and Chefs for your support and time!

As most of you know, we have won Best Places to Work for the 7th year in a row! And in addition to that, we received another award for the very first time—the 2015 Best Places to Work Healthiest Company in the medium employer category! We received this award because of activities like our monthly Farmer’s Market, Nutritional/EAP/Financial Education, Healthy Blending/salad events, and special guest chefs. Please continue to support our health & wellness committee and efforts! Our monthly Otsuji Farmer’s Market is the first Thursday of every month!

Another great Toastmaster meeting was held this month! Our Toastmaster, Elaine Panlilio, appropriately chose the theme of Spring Break for this month’s meeting. Everyone with a role shared a quick favorite spring break memory --- mostly ‘PG’ versions. We had three great speeches in this past month’s meeting. Alex Razloga started by trying to convince us why we should ride motorcycles, and how it helped him impress his then-girlfriend to become his wife (guys, it worked!). Next, we heard from Lily Yamamoto on her acrophobia (fear of heights), and all the narrow hanging bridges and high places she had been to with her family. I felt my legs shaking just listening and looking at the photos. Finally, Melanie Nordgran informed us on how to create our toastmaster home, winning her the Best Speaker Award this month. We also welcomed two

new members, Sylvia Baptiste and Catherine Yamamoto, can’t wait to hear their first speeches! On the district level, Atlas Olelo Hui was well represented at the recent Area 7 speech contests held on Saturday March 7th. Teri Fabry, as Area Governor, was Chairwoman of the contest. Several members also volunteered to help at the event, working at the registration table and as ballot counters. Best of all, our very own, Peter Junker, took 1st place for International Speech & Table Topics Speech contest. Congratulations Peter! Come out to support Peter as he competes on the next level on April 11th at the CPB Training Room located at 225 Queen Street, 4th Floor. Go Atlas Olelo Hui!

Elaine first joined Atlas Kona in 2008 moving to Atlas Honolulu Personal Lines 2015. Elaine supported both our Independent and House Kona Clients in both capacities. Now, Elaine is joining Client Consulting Group’s AOAO Team to support Atlas Independent and House Clients!

Earning her CIC designation in 2013 and an active Atlas Toastmaster – you may recall Elaine as one of our Atlas Kick-off co-hosts. Elaine is a wannabe weekend warrior who enjoys hiking and diving! Elaine explores her artistic side thru photography – mostly landscapes and underwater..like dolphins, manta rays and Galapagos sharks! Elaine emphasized Galapagos sharks are the friendlier ones and even then, she was in a cage. Elaine has two children who are growing up tooooo fast….literally! Jacob who is 11 is already 5’8 and still Mom’s little sweetheart, as Jacob still holds Mom’s hand in public. Atlas CCG is looking forward to Elaine sharing her pictures, as well as her knowledge, supporting our AOAO team.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to compete in a speech contest in front of over 100 strangers? If so, ask Chenise. As a fairly new member of the Honolulu Association of Insurance Professionals, she won the Confidence While Communicating (CWC) Speak-off in Honolulu last November. The win earned her the right to move on to the Region VIII International Association of Insurance Professionals (IAIP) speech competition held in San Francisco on March 19th. Her competitors were state winners from Arizona and California.

After delivering a three-minute prepared speech about the physical and mental health benefits she received from the programs offered here at Atlas Insurance and answering a one-minute impromptu question in front of a huge audience from five different states, Chenise came out as the victor. As the winner of the regional competition, she will move on to the international CWC Speak-off where she will face eight other regional winners in Minneapolis, Minnesota in June. Congratulations to Chenise on her win. We wish her all the best in the upcoming competition!
