ISOBUS Terminology

• ISOBUS - The marketing term used to describe the implementation of at least the Agricultural ISO standard of ISO 11783. This is generally applied to equipment & systems that involve the ISO 11783 Implement Bus (Open System) network, whether on Tractors, Implements, or other self-propelled machines.

ISOBUS Terminology• ISOBUS Compliance (ISOBUS Compliant) –

"ISOBUS Compliance" or "ISOBUS Compliant" are phrases that cannot be used regarding equipment, harnesses, vehicles or systems unless certain ISOBUS criteria have been proven to have been met.

First, this means that the equipment has met the requirements of the "ISOBUS Compliance Test Protocol" document. Second, this also means having been successfully tested by a confirmed ISOBUS Test laboratory for the applicable sections of this Compliance document.

First, this means that the equipment has met the requirements of the "ISOBUS Compliance Test Protocol" document. Second, this also means having been successfully tested by a confirmed ISOBUS Test laboratory for the applicable sections of this Compliance document.

This is a voluntary process, not a required one, but to use these exact phrases  "ISOBUS Compliance" or "ISOBUS Compliant", then the equipment must have been successfully tested as stated above.  There are various subsections or categories of Compliance, the equipment must meet the requirements of the applicable categories.

ISOBUS Terminology

• ISOBUS Self-Declared Compliance  -

This phrase is similar to ISOBUS Compliance but means that an outside lab has not been involved.  To clarify further: the manufacturer is confident that its equipment would meet the particular required tests of ISOBUS Compliance by a confirmed ISOBUS Compliance lab if so tested. By using this phrase, the manufacturer is declaring such a position & will stand behind that claim.

ISOBUS in Brazil• May 2005 – Agrishow Meeting

– At Ribeirão Preto on May 18, 2005 – Organized by researchers from São Paulo University and

Embrapa – Supported by the national associations for farm equipment

and machinery manufacturers, the major global Agricultural Equipment companies, and by ABNT, the Brazilian Standards Organization

• Aftermath: Brazilian interest in ISOBUS has increased significantly. – Articles have been published in several major magazines. – On July 28, 2005, a similar presentation was made at the Ag

Engineers congress, which had a more academic audience. – Perhaps the most significant result is that ABNT (Brazilian

Standards Organization) has called a meeting on the 15th of August with all the participants of the Agrishow meeting to discuss the actions to introduce ISOBUS in Brazil. The meeting will be held and coordinated by ABIMAQ (Implement manufacturers association).
