Note from the Head
I hope you had a good festive season and we wish you all a very Happy New Year. It is so good to have all the chil-
dren back at school! We have started the new year at full gallop. The 21 new students who have joined us across the
school have settled in well and have been warmly welcomed by the whole of our community at Nairobi Acade-
my. We have already had a Prefects Training session, a Year 4 & 5 Inter-House Spelling Bee competition, a Year 6 & 7
boys and girls talk with guest speakers, a Year 6,7 & 8 teachers transition meeting, a Year 7 parents meeting, a Year 2
assembly and played 6 matches against other schools (all of which we have won!) and all of this as well as the every
day learning which goes on. We have also welcomed a new English teacher Miss Sarah Musili who has come to teach
English in some of the Year 5's and Year 7. We have a busy term ahead with lots of opportunities for you to come and
interact with us, so I do hope we will be seeing many of you at these events.

Entrepreneurship Day
On Friday 27th January at 10.00 am the Prep School will be holding their first ENTREPRENEUR DAY. The aim of
this day is for each class to come up with an activity for a stall to raise money for The Adventure Pride School. The
younger ones will have more help from their teachers. This will help them learn how
to organise an activity, what costs will be incurred and therefore what to charge for
their activity. Some of the suggestions we have had so far are a bake sale, pin the tail
on the donkey, a white elephant stand, charging for a game on a play station, guess
how many sweets in a jar and a lucky dip.
We would like all children to come with some money that day (a maximum of 500/-)
so that they can go around the stalls and participate in what they would like. I do so
hope you will support your child in this venture. It is the only community service
event we will be doing this term. We would also like to invite parents to pop in and come and join us (or help out).
It should be a wonderful morning and we look forward to seeing you there.
Prefect Training
Great prefect training that focused on team-
work, responsibility and leadership by positive
role models was conducted by Mr. Antony and
Mr. Wilfred. 16 students who make up the pre-
fect body were present and responded well to
the motivational talk and organized activities
during the training. Words of wisdom by John
C. Maxwell that, “A leader is one who knows
the way, goes the way and shows the way” guided this training. All prefects
agreed to live by those words.
In this week… Year 7 have been learning about acids and bases. They did an ex-
periment to investigate the effects of acids on dyes.
