discussed. Major trends affecting future developments in theory in Community Nutrition are discussed.

NS 660 (1993), Nutrition Education for Families. Designed for graduate students in community nutrition and professionals in the field, this course reviews the latest research, theory and practice of nutrition education targeted to diverse families.

NS 660 (1991), Applying Theories in Community Nutrition and Nutrition Education (with J. Sobal). Reviewed the social science theories related to Community Nutrition and Nutrition Education and the application of theory in practice.

NS 660 (1991) Implementation of Dietary Guidelines. (with J. Sobal). Introduced the participants to important concepts and theories and resources for developing and implementing dietary guidelines and help them apply these theories and concepts to help consumers implement current dietary guidelines. Students prepare a proposal for assisting a selected audience to implement dietary guidelines.

NS 445, (1985 &1989) Community Nutrition. Develops the concept of community nutrition and the roles of community nutritionists, delineated the knowledge and skills needed to function effectively as a community nutritionist and aid students in acquiring this body of knowledge and developing these skills. Students were asked to think critically about community nutrition and consider nutrition in the total context in which it is found at the national, state, community, and individual levels. Training in-field participant-observation techniques was included.

NS660 (1988) Qualitative Social Science Methodology in Nutrition Education. (with G. Gillespie) Students develop an in-depth understanding of the stages and issues of qualitative in-depth interviews, and observation techniques. Applications in Community Nutrition are emphasized.
