Kindergarten Last Friday we said thank you and goodbye to our prac teacher, Mrs Naden. We had a wonderful four weeks of fantastic fun learning with Mrs Naden and one highlight was making “Mars Cars”! Yum! This week Kindergarten are revising the “Ch” sound, as in chin. We will also look at writing a recount, using a beginning, middle and end. On Wednesday we welcome the new 2020 kinder kids back again from 9am to 1:30pm. On Friday we are reciting the poem “Recess, Oh Recess!” at the 150th Official Ceremony at 1:30pm. Please remember to practice each night at home. Students must wear full summer uniform on Friday and for those marching on the Saturday, full sports uniform is required. Have a great week!

Intensive Swimming Primary students have the opportunity to participate in 2 weeks of intensive swimming lessons for free this year. Students will walk down to the pool and be involved in lessons to improve their swimming technique and develop water safety skills that are important for life. Lessons will take place in Weeks 8 and 9 this year. Please return notes to the Front Office by Friday 29th November. Any questions please contact Mrs Kristal Norwood at the school.
Central School Sports Day Last Friday 24 Secondary students travelled to Coonabarabran to compete in the first year of the Central Schools Sports Day. Students participated as a school team in 5 different sports over the day: Volleyball, League Tag, Basketball, Futsal and Ultimate Frisbee against teams from Baradine, Coolah, Dunedoo and Binnaway. Our school has been practising all sports in our Friday sport lessons to improve our skills and learn the rules. In League Tag, Emma Adams was a strong defender, not letting anyone past her in the defence line; Victoria Monk was our highest girl try scorer and Jesse Dennis was our speed star on the day. In Ultimate Frisbee, Ella Hartley was one of our strongest players in both attacking and defending, transferring her netball skills to the game. In Volleyball, Klayton Campbell at the net was the blocking defence and Brianna Bruckner served to our advantage. Malcolm Hellyer was our quick futsal player scoring the goals, while Tim Bennell was our schools Basketball shooter on the day. All teams were very competitive on the day and displayed team work and great sportsmanship. Although we didn’t bring home the trophy this year, Mendooran Central School will come back fighting stronger next year.

- Cricket
Legend
What makes cricket so appealing? It’s a lot of fun, always interesting as no game is ever the same and I love to bat! What are your sporting dreams? I want to play Test Cricket for Australia! What is the general overview of cricket for someone who hasn’t played before? You need to score as many runs as possible when it’s your teams turn to bat. One Day games have 50 overs for each side and each over has 6 bowls of the ball. You need to get 10 batters out to change sides. There is a boundary rope around the whole game and if you hit the ball over the rope on the full then you score a “six”. If the ball bounces or rolls on the grass before hitting the boundary rope then you get a “four”. What qualities should a sporting role model have? Play fairly, great sportsmanship, honesty, respectfulness and a positive attitude. What’s the most amount of runs you have scored in one game? 46 (junior cricket) My batting average is 10. What’s been your favourite game of cricket played? Gunnedah a few weeks ago. I scored lots of run and also played Wicket Keeper position. Favourite teams to watch play? Australia Vs England. Best cricket field in the world? Lord’s Cricket Ground in England. Favourite position? Slips and also batting.
Ella Hartley - League
Tag Super Star! Favourite sport? League Tag. How long have you been playing league tag for? This is my first year playing but I have played touch football for about five years. What is exciting about league tag? It’s similar to tackle football. Give me three rules for league tag: 1. You can’t 360 (no full spinning), 2. No contact (no tackles or shoulder charges) and 3. You must play the ball with your foot. What are your ambitions after school? I want to be a PE Teacher. Interesting fact: I can sing and rap the entire song “Only” by Nicki Minaj. Who is your biggest fans? My family. Quote to live by: “You don’t get anywhere unless you try” by Dean Hartley. Any words for your audience: Give everything a red hot go and thanks to my Mum for making me try out for FWAS. Who would be in your All Stars League Tag Team? Ella Hartley, Kyle Hartley, Dean Hartley, Jake Swan, Amy Adams, Emma Adams, Carter Swan, Vic Monk, Jess Skinner, Mrs Skinner, Mrs Mulligan, Mrs Norwood, Kalyn Ponga, Jonathan Thurston and Sam Thaiday.

We now have 68 registered members and we have already had a few of our little Jellyfish swimmers move up to swim a full lap of the pool. Thank you to the older swimmers for always being willing to help our younger swimmers in the pool, and the parents who help with timekeeping, marshalling and cooking the BBQ. Thank you also to Shane for having the pool looking so good each week. A $2 sausage sizzle is held at the pool every Friday to finish off a busy week. We would like to thank our sponsors for their ongoing support, Mendooran Central Motors – Elgas, Victoria Pisaturo and Lonsdale White Suffolk Stud – The Beer family.
