A. If a geographic location or similarly site specific identifiers, such as road, communityor the like, explain the reasoning and significance of the recommendation below.
Buena Vista is Spanish for "Good View." Based on where the school is located,it seems that the school has a "Good View" of Guilford County. It is nestled in a beautifularea and in a great community. I think that Buena Vista would also be nice to recognizethe Hispanic population that we have in the community and as always, students wouldget a "good view" of their education!

Accomplishments of David Monroe Chrismon
David Monroe Chrismon served as a member of the Guilford County Board of Educationfrom December 1, 1922until November 21, 1930when he was killed in a car accidenthaving just left a meeting of the board inspecting the new Jesse Wharton School. Prior tohis being elected to the expanded Board in 1922, he was a committeeman of Osceolaschool district.
During his tenure on the Guilford County Board of Education, many new schools wereconstructed including the schools of Alamance, Busick, Colfax, Gibsonville, Guilford,McLeansville, Nathanael Greene, Rankin, Stokesdale, Sumner, Summerfield,Woodyside, Brown Summit, Madison, Monticello, Oak Ridge Sedgefield, Allen Jay,Brightwood, Florence, Oak View, Union Hill, Proximity and Jesse Wharton. The boardofficially abolished all one-teacher schools on May 10, 1924. Another importantaccomplishment during his tenure was the abandonment of the practice of localcommunities bearing all or part of the cost of school construction. By the mid-1920's,the board was funding school construction completely through its own resources whichmarked a significant shift in authority away from local communities and towardcentralization.
The Guilford County Board of Education honored Mr. Chrismon with the attachedresolution, attesting to his dedication and hard work for all the children of his county. Apage in the Minute Book of the Board was dedicated in his honor. To this day, his great-great grandchildren attend Monticello-Brown Summit Elementary School.
Mr. Chrismon was a tireless worker for education in Guilford County and gave his life inthis service for his fellow citizens and the school children of the county. He lived in theNortheast part of Guilford county and thus it would seem fitting that a school located inthis part of the county should bear his name.
