Likewise, she was one of the selected eminent personalities for the “Distinguished Women of Nepal: A Historic Photo Exhibition” organized by Nepal Cultural Museum at Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal from March 08 - 14, 2018 and inaugurated by the Hon. Minister of Defence, Ishwor Pokhrel. Journey of Fashion XIII: Sera Di Stilista, the college’s 13th Graduation Fashion Show is being organized by the 63 graduating designers of the 13th batch (6th semester) on May 19, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu.

Sera Di Stilista will present a total of 5 sensational sequences comprising of 42 spectacular runway dresses........

The distribution of Application Forms for the 2018 intake of the college’s Bachelor of Fashion Design and Management (BFDM) program will commence from the 2nd week of July 2018. The BFDM program is the only Bachelors course of 4 years (8 semesters) in Fashion in Nepal and is the successor to the college’s Bachelor of Fashion Design (BFD) program of 3 years (6 semesters) .

Gyani Shova Tuladhar (Founder Principal and Senior Fashion Designer) was among the 25 inspirational Nepali women whose inspiring stories and achievements were compiled in a book named “Celebrating Womanhood: Woman Who Inspire Positive Change” The book will be included in the Sociology Department of Liverpool John Moore University (LJMU), UK as part of its teaching curriculum.

The writers, Dr. Sara Parker (Reader in Development Studies & Social Sciences at Liverpool John Moores University) and Shrijana Singh Yonjan (Conceptualizer/Coordinator of Celebrating Womanhood Awards) launched the book during a ceremony held on April 09, 2018 at Yala Maya Kendra, Patan. On December 18, 2017, she was presented the Nepal Education Leadership Award 2017 by then Hon. State Minister of Finance, Udaya Shamsher Rana and Dr. R.L. The Orientation Program for students of the 2017 intake of Bachelor of Fashion Design and Management (BFDM) program was conducted at the college on November 08, 2017.

The students were welcomed by Gyani Shova Tuladhar (Founder Principal), Anil Kumar Upadhyay (CEO), Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal) as well as other officials of the college. An overview of the college, the BFDM program and other pertinent information were shared with the students.

Guest speakers, Mukta Shrestha (Fashion Designer & Founder, Muku), Pragya Chitrakar (8th batch graduate & Owner, Simrik Design Studio) and Manish Rai (12th batch graduating designer & Founder, “Manish Rai” label) also shared their professional experiences with the students.

Rajendra Singh (Advisory Board & Faculty Member, NCFT) and Kushma Shrestha (Head of Department for Clothing, NCFT) also shared few words with the students.

Classes of the 1st semester formally commenced on November 12, 2017.

The practical exam of 13th batch (6th semester) for the subject “Career Development” was conducted at the college on March 13, 2018. The students were evaluated on their viva voce of the subject and their dining etiquette by Shanta Shrestha (Faculty, Career Development), Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal), Drishti Tuladhar (Events Manager) and Richa Tuladhar (HR Manager).

Industrial visits under various courses were conducted for different batches.

Students of the 16th Batch visited Fashion Mantra Garment Industry, Hadigaun on January 09 and 10, 2018 under the “Garment Technology - I” course during the 1st semester. Students of the 14th Batch visited Logo Fashion Industries, Bhaktapur on January 07, 2018 under the “Fashion Merchandising” course during the 5th semester.

Students of the 14th Batch visited Mahalaxmi Textiles and KR Textiles, Lubhu on July 30 and August 18, 2017 under the “Textile Design and Analysis” course during the 4th semester. Likewise, students of the 15th Batch visited Setidevi Imports and Exports, Gongabu on August 02, 2017 under the “Garment Technology – I” course during the 2nd semester.

The students were able to further strengthen their knowledge of the production and business sides of fashion during the visits.

Displays of practical works done by students of the 14th batch (5th semester), 15th batch (3rd semester) and 16th batch (1st semester) as part of their practical classes under various subjects were conducted at the college during March 19 - 29, 2018.

The displays were conducted of the 1st semester courses: Clothing Technology – I and Garment Technology – I with the presence of faculty members for the subjects, Samjhana Pariyar and Laxya Bam Rajwar respectively.

The displays of the 3rd semester were of Clothing Technology – III and Apparel Designing courses under the presence of faculty members for the subjects, Binita Aryal and Moon Prajapati respectively.

Likewise, the displays of the 5th semester were of Clothing For Special Needs, Introduction to Clothing - V and Draping and Grading subjects under the presence of faculty members for the subjects, Kushma Shrestha (Head of Department - Clothing and Garment) and Moon Prajapati. Gyani Shova Tuladhar (Founder Principal) reviewed the works of the students under the subjects and gave her feedback and suggestions on the designs and production quality to the students and the faculty members.

The 57 graduating designers of the 12th Batch gave their final project presentation on November 16, 2017 as part of the course requirements of the subject “Project Work” and for the successful completion of the Bachelor of Fashion Design (BFD) program.

They were graded on their powerpoint presentations and their respective Project Work report by an evaluation panel consisting of: Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal of NCFT & Fashion Technology Subject Committee Member of P.U.), Rajendra Singh (Advisory Board Member, Faculty of NCFT and Fashion Technology Subject Committee Member of P.U.), Vivekananda Mishra (Chief Technical Officer of Gayatri Pashmina and Advisory Board Member of NCFT), Anu Shrestha (Founder/Designer of Kallisto, Advisory Board Member of NCFT and Fashion Technology Subject Committee Member of P.U.) & Richa Tuladhar (HR Manager & Faculty of NCFT)

Alpana Shrestha conducted a guest lecture on “How to Fashion Your Future” for students of the 13th Batch (6th Semester) on March 11, 2018.

The lecture covered topics such as: the best way to think like a fashion designer, career possibilities, current fashion and industry trends, and designers, brands, companies and organizations to follow.

An alumni of Donghua University, Shanghai, she has been active in the field of textiles for more than 2 decades. She is currently based in Hongkong and Nepal as an International Textile and Media Consultant, and she is also a Consultant and Visiting Faculty at the college.

Rahul Man Shakya (Managing Director, Star Fashion Industry) delivered a guest lecture for students of the 14th batch (5th semester) on January 28, 2018 .

An alumni of Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), New York, he has been involved in the field of fashion for over 2 decades. He talked about the ground realities, opportunities and challenges of running a fashion business in Nepal and shared invaluable career advices with the students. The lecture was held under the “Fashion Merchandising” course and was facilitated by Rajendra Singh (Advisory Board Member, NCFT & Faculty, Fashion Merchandising)

PROJECT WORK PRESENTATION CLASSES BY NOTED GERMAN DESIGNER/STYLIST

Stella Maris Haefele (Visiting Faculty and Noted German Fashion/Costume Designer and Stylist) conducted special classes for students of the college from August 28 to September 07, 2017.

The classes covered the following areas: How To Become A Personal Stylist, Royal Fashion - European Family and Oral Presentation. Students of the 15th Batch (2nd Semester), 14th Batch (4th Semester), 13th Batch (5th Semester) as well as students of Namuna Institute of Technology (NIT) attended the classes.

Having been educated/trained at fashion institutions such as University of Arts - Central Saint Martins, London and ESMOD, Munich, she has been extensively involved in the international fashion industry for more than 6 years. She has been conducting special classes for students of the college since 2016.

GUEST LECTURE BY EDUCATION DIRECTOR OF REDRESS

Kay Liu (Education Director of Redress, Hong Kong) conducted a guest lecture for students, staff and faculty of the college on July 19, 2017.

A Masters graduate in Ethical Fashion with more than 10 years of experience in different sectors of the fashion supply chain, she talked about the global need for moving towards ethical and sustainable fashion and for cutting waste out of fashion to reduce its adverse impact on the environment.

She also talked about EcoChic Design Award, the world’s largest sustainable fashion design competition. The guest lecture was facilitated by Alpana Shrestha (Textile and Media Consultant, NCFT).

GUEST LECTURE BY MANAGING DIRECTOR OF AMRITA CRAFTS

Ananta Gupta, Managing Director of Amrita Crafts, Thamel conducted a guest lecture for students of the 13th Batch (5th Semester) at the college on July 24, 2017.

Amrita Crafts is an export oriented business involved in manufacture and export of antique items as well as local fabric based designer clothes.

During the lecture, he talked about the challenges and ground realities of doing fashion related business in Nepal. The students had a great learning experience and got to know about what they should expect when venturing out as an entrepreneur in Nepal.

The guest lecture was held under the “Entrepreneurship” course and was facilitated by Niranjan Shrestha (Faculty, Entrepreneurship).

Florian Philippe Retif, an international expert in Trademark & Intellectual Property conducted a workshop for students at the college premises on June 29, 2017.

He is a Legal and Trade Facilitation Consultant at the International Trade Center (ITC), Geneva, and he delivered an informative presentation on topics such as Intellectual Property Rights, Indication of Source, Geographical Indication, Trademark etcetera. He also talked on the Chyangra Pashmina (CP) trademark which is the collective trademark under which members of Nepal Pashmina Industries Association (NPIA) who manufacture Chyangra Pashmina products market their products.

Students of the Pashmina Fashion Design and Technology (PFDT) course and students of the 12th batch (6th semester) and 13th batch (5th semester) of the college’s Bachelor of Fashion Design (BFD) program attended the workhop.

The workshop was facilitated by Pashmina Enhancement and Trade Support (PETS) project and Nepal Pashmina Industries Association (NPIA).

Aya Domon, who is a noted Japanese Fashion Designer known for using Nepali fabrics in her designs, visited the college on May 08, 2017. Discussions also took place on the possibility of having her at the college as a Visiting Expert/Trainer on her next visit to Nepal. The visit was facilitated by Pradeep Man Shakya (Proprietor, Shraman Apparels).

Officials of Hokkaido Dress Maker College, Japan; Yoko Asai (President) and Manabu Asai (Principal) visited the college on October 25, 2017. Pertinent information about the respective educational institutions were shared between them and officials of the college as well as possible areas for mutual cooperation were discussed during the visit. The visit was facilitated by Aya Domon who was also present.

Further to their visits, a Fashion Show titled “Gratitude and Hope” was held at the college on February 03, 2018 that aimed to facilitate exchange of Nepalese/Japanese design concepts as well as promote designs using Nepali fabrics. The show was conceptualized by Aya Domon and was supported by NCFT, Karuna Natural Wears and Juju Wears. More details about the show can be found in Page 6.

INTERNATIONAL IMAGE DESIGN EXPERTAND HER TEAM VISIT COLLEGE

NOTED JAPANESE DESIGNER AND EDUCATIONISTS VISIT COLLEGE

Yun Xi (Annie), Founder/CEO of Yun Xi Image Consulting Company, China and her team visited the college on December 13, 2017.

Recognized as an expert in management of image design and as one of China’s top ten outstanding image design lecturers, she has also served as a Distinguished Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

The visit aimed to develop relationships between the college and her company through discussions on fashion and also explore the possibilities of academic exchanges and design collaborations.

She also conducted a short lecture for students of the 13th batch (6th Semester) and 14th Batch (5th semester) on topics such as Image Chromatics, Style, Image DNA etcetera.

SWISS CONTACT OFFICIALS VISIT COLLEGE

PUM OFFICIALS VISIT COLLEGE

WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION (WTO) OFFICIAL VISITS COLLEGE

Jane Achermann (Project Manager of Swiss Contact’s Senior Experts Corps program) visited NCFT on March 21, 2018 for an introductory meeting with the college officials. The visit was facilitated by Neeraj Singhal (Country Coordinator of Swiss Contact’s Senior Expert Corps) who was also present.

Discussions and experiences were shared on the 5 Senior Experts from Swiss Contact’s Senior Experts Corp program who have successfully conducted various capacity enhancement courses/training for students and faculty members of the college over the years. Likewise, the possibilities for assigning further Senior Experts to the college by Swiss Contact were also discussed. Gyani Shova Tuladhar (Founder Principal), Anil Kumar Upadhyay (CEO), Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal) and Avtar Tuladhar (Administrative Manager) attended the meeting.

Johan Van Den Berg (Country Coordinator) and Niraj Khanal (Country Representative) of PUM: Netherlands Senior Experts visited NCFT on November 26, 2017 for an introductory meeting with the college officials

Discussions were undertaken on the possibility of having senior experts from PUM conduct trainings for the college’s faculty members.

Gyani Shova Tuladhar (Founder Principal), Anil Kumar Upadhyay (CEO), Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal) and Avtar Tuladhar (Administrative Manager) attended the meeting.

James Edwin (Coordinator, Monitoring and Evaluation under the Executive Secretariat for the Enhanced Integrated Framework at the World Trade Organization, Geneva) visited the college on October 14, 2017 for an introductory meeting with officials of the college.

Gyani Shova Tuladhar (Founder Principal), Anil Kumar Upadhyay (CEO), Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal) and Avtar Tuladhar (Administrative Manager) of the college attended the meeting during which he shared some valuable suggestions and feedback on possible activities for the capacity enhancement of the college and its graduates. An interaction between him and some students also took place during which he imparted some career and academic advice to them.

Veronique Becchia (Director, Alliance Francaise Kathmandu) and Nicholas Pubill (Development Officer, Alliance Francaise Kathmandu) visited NCFT on September 14, 2017 for an introductory meeting with the college officials. Initial discussions were undertaken on the possibility of offering French language classes to students of the college. Other activities of mutual cooperation between the two organizations were also discussed. Anil Kumar Upadhyay (CEO), Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal), Avtar Tuladhar (Administrative Manager) and Richa Tuladhar (HR Manager) were present during the meeting.

ALLIANCE FRANCAISE KATHMANDU (AFK) OFFICIALS VISIT COLLEGE

Dr. Fiaz Hussain, Associate Dean (International) of Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK visited the college on August 22, 2017. He was accompanied by Cynthia Langeveldt from the same University who facilitated the visit.

An introductory meeting was held between him and officials of the college during which pertinent information on the respective educational institutions was shared and possible areas for mutual cooperation were discussed. He also conducted an information session on Cardiff Metropolitan University for students of the college and answered their queries. Gyani Shova Tuladhar (Founder Principal), Anil Kumar Upadhyay (CEO), Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal) and Richa Tuladhar (HR Manager) attended the meeting.

PASHMINA FASHION SHOW

FASHION SHOW: EXCHANGE OF NEPALI AND JAPANESE DESIGNS

“Pashmina Enhancement: Generation Towards Global Trend”, a pashmina fashion show was organized by the college on July 15, 2017 at Moksha Live Restaurant and Bar, Jhamsikhel to mark the successful completion of its Pashmina Fashion Design and Technology (PFDT) course run under the framework of Pashmina Enhancement and Trade Support (PETS) project.

Likewise, the college also conducted a Pashmina Fashion Show during the Final National Dissemination Workshop of the PETS project held on October 13, 2017 at Hotel Annapurna.

All designs and products showcased in the shows were developed by the first and second batch of the college’s PFDT course in close collaboration with Nepal Pashmina Industries Association (NPIA) and after internships in its member enterprises. A booth showcasing products (merchandise) of NPIA member enterprises where students of the course interned were also on display at the shows.

The shows were viewed by high ranking officials of various agencies associated with the PETS Project that included Ravi Shankar Sainju (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce), Arancha Gonzalez (Executive Director, International Trade Center), Buddhi Prasad Upadhyaya (Under Secretary, Ministry of Commerce), Durga Bikram Thapa (President, Nepal Pashmina Industries Association) among others. The audience of the shows also comprised various distinguished stakeholders associated with the project.

The results of a Pashmina Sketch Competition organized by the college for students of the course were also announced during the July 15 show in which Sanu Namaya was adjudged the Winner of the competition while Anita Khati and Nirmala Malbul were the first and second runners – up respectively.

“Gratitude and Hope”, a fashion show that aimed to facilitate exchange of Nepalese/Japanese design concepts as well as promote designs using Nepali fabrics was held at the college premises on February 03, 2018.

The show was conceptualized by noted Japanese designer, Aya Domon and was supported by the college, Karuna Natural Wears and Juju Wears.

Three fashion sequences were showcased to an audience comprising of the college’s students, graduates, staff, faculty and members of the Advisory Board and guests from the Nepali and Japanese fashion industry.

Graduating designers of NCFT, Rajendra Rai, Sanu Namaya and Sarika Rai showcased their designs on Japanese fabrics that were gifted to the college by Yoko Asai (President) and Manabu Asai (Principal) of Hokkaido

Both the shows were choreographed by Rojin Shakya (Faculty, NCFT) and all models were students of the college.

The PETS Project was sponsored by the Government of Nepal (GoN) and was funded under the multi-donor financed Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The main executing agency of the Project was the Ministry of Commerce (MoC). The Nepal Pashmina Industries Association (NPIA) was the private sector partner of the project and the main project implementing entity was the International Trade Centre (ITC), Geneva.

OFFICIAL OF CANADIAN INSTITUTE VISITS COLLEGE

Jennifer Dawson, Program Coordinator of The Business School under Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, Canada visited NCFT on July 14, 2017 for an introductory meeting.

The visit was facilitated by Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (FWEAN) and also present were Ramola Sthapit (Officer Manager, FWEAN) and Shreejani Tuladhar (Member, FWEAN).

Anil Kumar Upadhyay (CEO), Jeebeswor Lal Shrestha (Vice Principal), and Richa Tuladhar (HR Manager) attended the meeting.

Dress Maker College, Japan. Pashmina designs developed by students of the college’s Pashmina Fashion Design and Technology course were also presented during the same sequence that was choreographed by Rajendra Rai and Sanu Namaya.

The designs and products of Karuna Natural Wears and Juju Wears were presented in another sequence that was choreographed by Nuzhat Qazi, Chief Designer of Karuna Natural Wears.

Aya Domon, who is well known for using local Nepali fabrics and materials in her designs, showcased her collection during the main sequence which included unicolored one-piece skirts, tops, jacket, trouser, etcetera layered with patterned robes. The sequence was choreographed by herself.

All models for the show were students of the college.

Rojin Shakya (Faculty Member and Noted Fashion Choreographer/Media Personality) received the “Best Entrepreneur in Multi-task Personality of the Year Awards 2018” at The International Prestige Brand Awards 2018 held on April 07, 2018 at Palace of the Golden Horses, Malaysia.

The International Prestige Brand Awards is organized by Asia Excellence Entrepreneur Federation to recognize and celebrate entrepreneurs of global brands with the most outstanding performance and global influence in a singular industry or field annually.

Active in the field of media, fashion and modeling for nearly 2 decades, he has an extensive experience in fashion choreography, pageantry training at national and international scene, personality coaching, fashion journalism, television media, emceeing, mentoring, counseling and teaching.

He has choreographed and coordinated nearly 400 events in his career including international pageants like Miss Heritage International, Miss Teen Heritage International and Miss Mermaid Singapore 2016 and he has been the choreographer of the college’s Graduation Fashion Shows since 2008.

Tshering Nima Sherpa, student of 13th batch (5th semester) was selected as a member of the prestigious U.S. Embassy Youth Council (USYC) 2017 by the U.S. Embassy, Nepal.

STUDENT WINS TITLE AT HAUTE COUTURE FASHION FIESTA

Nidhi Pradhan (13th batch/5th semester student) along with Sagar Magar won the title of “Haute Couture Designer of the Year 2017” at the Haute Couture Fashion Fiesta and Everest Cine Honors 2017 organized by Crezona Network at the Hotel Annapurna on September 10.

GRADUATE WINS SKETCHING COMPETITION

Paru Pahari, 11th batch graduate, won the Fashion Sketch Competition 2017 organized by DAT Fashion for upcoming fashion designers during June 2017.

Her sketch was adjudged the best among sketches of 64 contestants by a panel of judges consisting of noted fashion designers Mamta Gurung Joshi, Bijay Gautam and Tenzin Tseten Bhutia. Students of various other batches of the college also participated in the competition.

MISS JYAPU 2017 Graduating designers of the 12th batch (6th semester) were the designers for contestants of “Miss Jyapu 2017” organized by Nasa Mandal on November 12, 2017 at the Rastriya Naachghar.

Designs created by 12th Batch graduating designers of the college were featured on the 9 contestants selected as “Faces of Wave” for the cover story of Wave Magazine’s November/December 2017 issue.

The designers were: Deena Gurung, Manish Rai, Pragya Raut, Preksha Shahi, Samjhana Dangol, Sanu Namaya and Sreejana Ratna Nepali.

Designs by 13th batch students under the theme “Festival Mood of Dressing” was published in Glamour Nepal and Saptahik on September 26 and December 08, 2017 respectively.

Bishwo Gautam (2nd batch graduate & CEO, Designers Collection)’s interview was featured on May 31, 2017 by Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), USA.

He is near completion of his Post Graduation in Apparel Industry Management at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) which is one of the world’s most prestigious fashion colleges.

Ritu Shrestha (6th batch graduate and Proprietor/Designer, Rituz Creation) was the official designer for the 39 female contestants of the School Prince and Princess 2017 pageant organized by Canon Bale Entertainment on September 02, 2017 in Birgunj.

Students from the 14th batch (3rd semester) and Namuna Institute of Technology (NIT) were the official designers for contestants of “Kid Queen Nepal 2017” organized by Nepalese Fashion Home at the Nepal Academy Hall on May 10, 2017.

PREJUDGMENT OF “JOURNEY OF FASHIONXII – RICORRENZA DE LA MODA”

A Prejudgment event was held at the college on August 27, 2017, Sunday as a precursor to the 12th Graduation Fashion Show titled “The Journey of Fashion XII – Ricorrenza De La Moda”

During the prejudgment, the 57 graduating designers (comprising 15 groups) of the final semester displayed the swatch work made by each group under the “Creative Round” sequence to a panel of judges.

“Marine Life” was the overall theme of this Graduation Fashion Show’s “Creative Round” sequence and the 15 groups of graduating designers presented their 15 creative designs which embodied and reflected the theme.

Each group gave a presentation to the judges about their respective designs, their inspiration for the designs, the fabrics/accessories used, the design details, etcetera. The groups were graded by a panel of judges based on the theme of their design, the accompanying swatch work and on their presentation.

The panel of judges consisted of:

• Anu Shrestha (Founder/Designer of Kallisto Designs, Advisory Board Member of

the college and Fashion Technology Subject Committee Member of Purbanchal University)

The grades given at the Prejudgment Program are combined with the grades that are given by the panel of judges to the designers’ creations under the “Creative Round” sequence during the Graduation Fashion Show.

The aggregate grades are then published by Purbanchal University under the subject “Fashion Show” as part of its End Semester Board Examinations of the sixth (final) semeter of the Bachelors of Fashion Design (BFD) program.

MODEL HUNT NEPAL 2017

Graduates and student of the college presented their design collections at The Himalayan Times TGIF Nepal Fashion Week 2017 held from April 05 to 08, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency, Kathmandu.

Pragya Chitrakar (8th batch graduate & Owner, Simrik Design Studio) showcased her collection “Synthesis.” Yubaraj Thapa (10th batch graduate & Founder, “Yubi Thapa” label) showcased his Spring/Summer collection & Manish Rai, (12th batch student) showcased his collections “Chaotic Beauty” & “Behuli” at the event.

COMIC AND COSPLAY CONVENTION 2017

Students of the 13th batch (5th semester) were involved in the Comic and Cosplay Convention 2017 organized by Next Entertainment at Heritage Garden on August 12, 2017. Pema Yangi Sherpa, Poonam Gurung and Sweta Thapa made the costumes that were used for the promotional photoshoot of the event. Likewise, Amrita Saru, Drasta Shakya, Sony Shrestha and Tshering Nima Sherpa made the costumes of some contestants for the event.

1. LOLITA FASHION:

A subculture that originated in Japan, Lolita style is highly inspired by Victorian children’s wear. In this style frills, flounce, lace, ruffle etc. were used with maximum accessories. Light colors like pink, pastel orange and green with the chiffon, satin, net, lace fabric were matched with cute hairstyle like pigtails, pony tails, softer curls and doll like makeup.

3. STREET WEAR FASHION:

Featured contemporary, casual and comfortable clothing that are wearable in just about any setting and as a street wear by urban youth subcultures. Hemp has been used extensively throughout history to make clothing and was used in this sequence. Focus was on minimal, natural looks and oversized fits using only natural colors.

5. CORPORATE WEAR:

Corporate wear refers to business attire that employees wear depending on the workplace/nature of their work. Inspired from the outfits worn by businessman, air-hostess, salesperson etc it included garments like fitted skirt, pencil skirt, shirt, tops, scarf enhanced with the pastel colors like pink, peach, parrot green, mustard yellow, maroon, indigo, purple etc. by highlighting company logos.

The graduating designers showcased their stunning designs in a total of six marvelous sequences which were:

2. INDO-WESTERN:

Indo-Western was the combination of traditional outfits of Indian sub-continents and western world. It included bright colors like red, blue, golden, black, green etc. Fitted jacket, slim fit jacket, cape, traditional saris, sleeveless blouse made from raw silk, tulle fabric, net were used.

4. BEAUTY QUEEN:

Inspired by previous works of Gyani Shova Tuladhar, a pioneer Nepali Fashion Designer and the college’s Founder Principal, who has worked in raw silk, satin, Dhaka for decades, this sequence was a tribute to her work with floor length gowns, princess line, raglan sleeve, ruffles, draping, off shoulder design etc enriched with different colors.

6. CREATIVE WEAR (MARINE LIFE):

The most awaited sequence of each year’s Graduation Fashion Show is the Creative Wear sequence during which art speaks and fantasy comes alive. The Creative Wear sequence was based on a particular theme which was “MARINE LIFE”. The 57 graduating designers (comprising 15 groups) showcased 15 astonishing creative designs inspired from the plants, animals and the waves from the sea. Thus, embodying and reflecting the theme.

The audience also included Vice Chancellor of Purbanchal University (PU): Prof. Dr. Ghanshyam Lal Das, Registrar: Pramila Thapa, Examination Controller: Prof. Dr. Surya Sangroula, Dean of Science and Technology Faculty: Prof. Dr. Shubha Narayan Pathak as well as former Vice Chancellors of Purbanchal University: Prof. Dr. Toran Bahadur Karki, Prof. Dr. Jagat Bahadur KC and Prof. Dr. Ramawatar Yadav.

It is also worth noting that in addition to designing their own collection for the event, the overall planning, fund generation, logistics management and execution of the event was done by the graduating designers themselves.
